Captain Picks Gameweek 30 - Fantasy Premier League Tips

Share post on:
We care if your Monday's blue, Tuesday grey and Wednesday too, Thursday we still care about you, it's Friday you're in… need of some captaincy advice? It hasn't got quite the same ring to it as the original, but we doubt Robert Smith ever thought his lyrics would be referenced in a fantasy football tips article. Last weekend was an absolutely terrible one for captain returns with 73.6% of the three million Fantasy Premier League managers putting their faith in Sergio Aguero, Harry Kane, Alexis Sanchez, Eden Hazard or David Silva. Last weekend we backed Eden Hazard to do the damage against the Saints who had been inviting a lot of pressure in the previous weeks. Despite the Belgian picking up a measly 2 points, our weekend was made slightly less bitter due to our decision to captain Olivier Giroud on FantasyBet and Christian Benteke on Fanaments. With a handful big names showing a decline in form fortunately a few new boys and familiar faces are emerging back on the scene, making this weekend's decision as tricky as usual. With just two of our five delivering the goods last week - which isn't bad considering we hope to slightly redeem ourselves with our Gameweek 30 captain picks.
Olivier Giroud vs. Newcastle (A) [mks_col] [mks_one_half] [/mks_one_half] [mks_one_half] Earlier this week Newcastle boss John Carver announced that the Magpies “only have 13 fit senior players, plus two goalkeepers for Saturday's game”. With nine players out due to suspension or injury, including defenders Fabricio Coloccini, Paul Dummett & Massadio Haidara the scene is set for a massacre at St James' Park. Olivier Giroud has comfortably scored a goal per game now in the Gunner's last four Premier League fixtures, so it should come as no surprise to see him top our list as the best captain choice for this weekend. With the creative talent of Mesut Ozil, Santi Cazorla and Alexis Sanchez gifting him chance after chance, we expect the Frenchman to strengthen Arsenal's bid for a top for finish at the mercy of struggling Newcastle. Harry Kane vs. Leicester (H) [mks_col] [mks_one_half]Did anybody else get that strange feeling when the final whistle blew at Old Trafford and Harry Kane wasn't on the score sheet, or do we just play too much fantasy football? We're confident last week's performance was just a minor blip on his otherwise impeccable record and doesn't mark the start of a poor run of form. Earlier this week the 21-year-old striker received his first senior England call-up and with seven goals in his last eight Premier League appearances we don't think there's any explanation needed on Roy Hodgson's part. This weekend Spurs host foot of the table Leicester who have only kept two clean sheets since the turn of the year. [/mks_one_half] [mks_one_half] [/mks_one_half] [/mks_col]
Sergio Aguero vs. West Brom (H) [mks_col] [mks_one_half] [/mks_one_half] [mks_one_half] After dropping out of the Champions League to Barcelona during the week, Manchester City will be looking to avenge their defeat and keep so called ‘pressure' on league leaders Chelsea. After having his penalty saved 13 minutes from time at the Nou Camp and currently without a goal in his last three Premier League games, we think that the Argentinian will be more fired up than ever for this fixture. Visiting the Etihad this weekend is a West Brom side who have built a defensive fortress since the arrival of Tony Pulis. However, the absence of star man Ben Foster due to injury means a mountainous amount of pressure is now placed on stand in keeper Boaz Myhill. Can he hold out for 90 minutes? We don't think so! [/mks_one_half] [/mks_col]
Diego Costa vs. Hull (A) [mks_col] [mks_one_half] Regaining his spot at the top of the Premier League top goalscorer's table last week after powerfully heading home past a rooted Fraser Forster is a striker who's been getting more criticism than praise as of late. Alongside stomping, elbowing and kicking players this season, Diego Costa has also managed to tally up 18 goals without being his teams penalty taker. This weekend Chelsea travel to Hull looking to maintain their 6-point lead at the top of the table. With Costa's goal against Southampton being his first since January, he's by no means a safe choice for your armband, however he could be worth a punt if you're looking to make ground on your rivals. [/mks_one_half] [mks_one_half] [/mks_one_half] [/mks_col]
Christian Benteke vs. Swansea (H) [mks_col] [mks_one_half] [/mks_one_half] [mks_one_half] The revival of Aston Villa under Tim Sherwood will look to continue when Swansea City roll into town this weekend. An win away against Sunderland last gameweek will have injected some much needed confidence at Villa Park and with Christian Benteke netting twice at the Stadium of Light - making it three goals in two games for the Belgian - we've highlighted him as an outside bet for big returns this weekend. Benteke blew onto the scene two years ago, scoring 19 goals in the league during 2012/13 and with Sherwood's attacking mentality there's certainly potential for Benteke to re-find that form and keep Villa in the Premier League for another season.
