Both Montpellier and Marseille are currently having seasons to forget.  The home side are currently in 16th place and just a point above the relegation zone, while the visitors - who were expected to battle for a European place - are currently languishing in 10th. A key reason for both sides' struggles appears to be their form on the road - neither has managed an away victory this season. Montpellier have been reasonable at home however, gaining eight points from a possible 15, although they haven't kept a clean sheet since Angers on the first day. Marseille have only two points from 15 away from the Velodrome, although they have seemed to tighten up at the back in recent times and are unbeaten in five matches.

Match Prediction

Montpellier haven't been goal shy of late but this one could be a cagey affair. Marseille have become more stubborn defensively and have a decent record away when visiting Stade de la Mosson having won two of the last three. Montpellier are without top scorer Casimir Ninga and - while this hasn't stopped them from scoring two goals in each of their last three games - we don't expect them to repeat the feat here. With Marseille desperate to pick up points to augment their great away form, it is likely they'll dig in on Friday and see if they can grab a goal against a leaky Montpellier defence. Marseille also love a shot from long range, so for those looking for a bit of a punt it may be worth looking at Florian Thauvin for a goal - the midfielder has scored twice from outside the box already and averages just under two shots a game with 60% accuracy.
