One of the most intriguing matchups in all of Europe this weekend will undoubtedly be the battle between Monaco and Lyon, who sit in second and fourth place respectively. Throughout this season Monaco's attack has looked damn-near impossible to stop. They've scored an incredible 53 league goals, which is by far the best total in any of the top leagues in Europe. The entire team has chipped in, but the most notable contributions have come from the rejuvenated Falcao who now has 10 league goals, five of which came from the hosts' past two league matches. Many have written the Colombian striker off after a steady decline over the past few seasons, but now he's looking as dangerous and as prolific as he was back in his Atletico Madrid days. When he's at his best it takes an army to stop him and even a tough Lyon side likely doesn't posses those resources. Lyon are in the midst of some great form themselves, winning five of their last six. Over that period they've outscored their opponents by a total of 13-5 and they didn't have to rely solely on Alexandre Lacazette to do so. They have confidence and they'll need it against the daunting threat that is Monaco.Match Prediction:
We are in for a treat with this match as both teams have the firepower to make the match an absolute thriller. Even with both teams in flying form, the hosts Monaco will be confident of extending the gap between the two sides. Monaco have won all of their home matches except for a draw in their opener, and the last four times they've played at Stade Louis II they've won by at least four goals. Lyon will be one of the toughest opponents to face Monaco, however, and they will not just roll over and die.
