Quarter Final Second Leg Fantasy Champions League Tips

Share post on:
As Wednesday night drew to a close, 3-1 was the scoreline that read out at both Parc des Prince and the Estadio Do Dragao. The eight goals spread across two games compensated for what was a quiet Tuesday where the only goal of came from the penalty spot. All is left to play for in the Madrid derby after Atletico held their rivals to a goalless draw on home soil. A single goal separates Juventus from Monaco as they go in to the second leg clash at the Stade Louis II. Elsewhere, PSG and Bayern will have attacking as their main priority as they try and close the two goal deficit and keep their Champions League dreams alive. As always, we'd like to hear who you're selecting for your Fantasy Champions League and daily fantasy football teams, so make sure you leave us a comment!

GOALKEEPERS

Best Bet - Manuel Neuer The obvious choice going in to this Champions League round would have to be Manuel Neuer. Bayern Munich need at least a 2-0 win to stand a chance of advancing to the semi-finals and will be looking at their German keeper to do them a favour and keep the Porto strike force at bay. Bayern have only conceded seven goals in their last nine Champions League matches, only four of which came from open play. With Porto more than likely setting out to defend their lead, it's unlikely we'll see much attacking play from the Portuguese side, making Neuer a solid bet. Differential - Gianluigi Buffon Not exactly the epitome of a differential, but with just eight goalkeepers to choose from the 37-year old Juventus keeper seems the likely choice - aside from Manuel Neuer - for when the Italian side visit the Stade Louis II on the back of their first leg success. Monaco have averaged less than one goal per game in their last seven Champions League matches whilst being held to a draw in their last three home games. With the Old Lady 15 points clear in the Serie A, their full attention will be on this match and a clean sheet would be enough to take them through.

DEFENDERS

Best Bet - Jordi Alba After being bullied by Luis Suarez on home soil in the first leg, PSG now travel to the Nou Camp this Tuesday already trailing by two goals. If the French side are going to put any pressure on Barcelona, they'll need to adopt an attacking philosophy from the get go. This could play in to Barcelona's hands and allow Jordi Alba to wreak havoc down the left. The link up play between the Spaniard and the front three holds good potential for attacking returns, and could add to the full back's four assists and goal already this season. Differential - Juan Bernat Following on from what was mentioned in regards to Manuel Neuer, Bayern's defence HAS to be on top form and one man you can rely on holding it together is Juan Bernat. Not only does the full back have good clean sheet potential but also a good chance of attacking returns. After picking up a last minute assist in the first leg against Porto, Pep Guardiola will be hoping for more of the same from the Spaniard. It's not going to be an easy task though as their opponents have gone undefeated in their last 11 Champions League matches.

MIDFIELDERS

Best Bet - James Rodriguez With Gareth Bale now rumoured to be injured for a minimum of three weeks, it's down to James - and obviously Ronaldo - to produce the goods. The World Cup top scorer has been in and out of the Madrid team due to injury but this derby has the potential to make him a match winner. After playing 90 minutes in each his last three - scoring in two of which - the Columbian has found a good spell of form. With Bale out, formation has also changed but whether he's coming in from the left, or behind the front two, he'll definitely pose a huge threat to Atletico's defence. Differential - Antoine Griezmann For those of your who don't follow La Liga then the easiest way to describe Antoine Griezmann is by calling him Atletico's version of Eden Hazard. Real Madrid will no doubt enter this game as favourites, but their Spanish rivals have proved a stern match for them in recent ties. Having scored two in the league last weekend, Griezmann will be looking to carry his momentum through in to the derby match this Wednesday. With fresh legs - having been precautionary substituted around the hour mark at the weekend - it'll be interesting to see if he can step up in such a huge game.

FORWARDS

Best Bet - Luis Suarez After terrorising David Luiz and smashing two past PSG last week, it's pretty hard to look any further than Luis Suarez when picking your strike force. After a slow start to the season, he's finally found his feet and is looking to go on a streak reminiscent of his Merseyside days. Barcelona have absolutely dominated the Champions League so far, winning their last seven on the bounce and scoring an average of 2.3 goals per game in the process. PSG need to throw their kitchen sink at this one and Barcelona will be looking to capitalise on the subsequent defensive vulnerabilities. Differential - Robert Lewandowski Coming in as the third and final Bayern pick - can you guess we expect them to pull a comeback? - is Robert Lewandowski. The Polish striker is yet to find the impeccable form he showed at rivals Dortmund, but what better match to make a name for himself than this. Bayern need goals and it's likely his link up play with Thomas Muller will be pivotal in the German side finding them. Porto are without full backs Danilo and Sandro which makes the task of keeping an attacking Bayern - and Lewandowski - an even tougher task.
