Gameweek 9 Attacking Potential: Form vs Fixture vs Odds

Which team has the best attacking potential for Gameweek 9? We've analysed attacking form, fixture difficulty and the bookies odds to reveal which teams are going to score the highest.

Ahead of Gameweek 9, @CallumRead has compiled the data and created another forecast which hopefully provides results with a similar accuracy to last week. Not only is this useful when selecting your FPL team, it's also a great visual aid for daily fantasy players. How is the data calculated? Every team has been rated 1 to 20 (1: best in the league, 20: worst in the league) based on form, fixture and odds. We've then totalled up all three scores and colour coded them for you to easily visualise which ones have the best goalscoring potential for Gameweek 9.

Gameweek 9 Attacking Potential: Form Vs. Fixture Vs. Odds:

screen-shot-2016-10-20-at-18-24-52 Obvious Findings   Arsenal are once again at the top of our Attacking Potential table for the second week in a row, they are going into their game against Middlesbrough having scored three against a Swansea side under new management. The Gunners' look a force to be reckoned with this season and have plenty of attacking potential to choose from. Alexis Sanchez is without doubt the stand out choice from the Arsenal midfielders, despite not scoring against Swansea he still managed to find himself involved in a goal, producing a wonderful pass for Mesut Ozil. In his last four games, the Chilean has created 13 chances and had 15 shots on goal. Whilst Middlesbrough and Karanka are infamous for keeping their defensive structure, we believe the attacking guile of Arsenal and the loss of Chambers to Boro due to being on loan from Arsenal could see Wengers' side score three goals once more. Elsewhere for Arsenal, Theo Walcott is looking a new player this season, he's scored five goals this season including a brace against Swansea, his confidence is sky high and that's reflected in his performances this season. He's not proving to be the most creative player with just five chances created in his last four games but he has had eight big chances and 18 goal attempts - both are the most out of any midfielder in the last four games. Liverpool place second on the table, despite coming off the back of a 0-0 draw against rivals Manchester United. To their credit though, they did look at attacking threat despite United's resilient defensive structure and if it wasn't for a world class David De Gea performance, they would've come away with all three points. Philippe Coutinho saw his long range effort saved by the United shot stopper and has been posting impressive stats in his last four games. The Brazilian has had 14 shots in his last four Games, the most of any Liverpool midfielder, but he's also shown his creative side with 12 chances created in the same period - again the most out of any midfielder from Liverpool. Tottenham probably have the best defence in the Premier League right now, but we are here to talk about their attacking quality - of which they still have plenty. Despite starting on the bench against West Brom, Son Heung-min still provides a good Fantasy Premier League pick, with 16 attempts on goal and 10 chances created in his last four Premier League games, it's clear to see his run of good performances haven't just been in the shape of scoring goals. Elsewhere for Spurs, Dele Alli looks like he could be earning back his Fantasy Football iconic status that he earned last season. The midfielder scored a late equaliser against the Baggies in Gameweek 8, putting his tally to three goals for the season, he's also had one assist. The young Englishman can provide a great source of goals for Spurs, he's had 12 Goal Attempts and created nine chances in the last four Premier League games. Completing the top four this week is Everton, if you're looking for coverage from the Toffees, then look no further than Romelu Lukaku. With seemingly lots of FPL managers looking to get rid of Zlatan, Lukaku is the perfect replacement for the Swede. He's scored six goals this season and has scored in both of Everton's last two Premier League games. The forward has also shown his creative side this season, creating six chances for his team mates. He's the main man going forwards for Everton and it's very unlikely he is going to be rotated due to his attacking quality. Stoke place fifth on the table, but it's their fixture ranking that interests us the most, obviously this is down to Hull City conceding 17 goals in their last four games, including six last Gameweek against Bournemouth. It looked positive at the start of the season for the Tigers but in recent weeks their defensive performances have been very poor. We never thought we would be saying this, but Joe Allen is the perfect 5th choice midfielder. Think of it this way, when Capoue was scoring goals every week during the early stages of the season, everyone rushed to own him. Well, now his goals have dried up, it's the perfect time to trade him in for a newer, cheaper player, think of it as upgrading your old car. Allen seems to be at the right place at the right time and has scored four goals this season, all of which have come inside the box. Valued at just £4.9m, he provides a brilliant rotation option. Other Findings West Brom find themselves ranked 18th in the overall table, but they have the seventh best form going into this weekend's fixture against Liverpool. On paper, this should be a write off, but the fact that Liverpool are so poor from set pieces this season makes some of the Baggies players an attractive selection this weekend. Nacer Chadli has scored four goals this season and has scored in both of his last two Premier League games. He's also created seven chances and provides a dangerous delivery from wide positions for the tall, powerful, Rondon. The West Brom forward has had 11 goal attempts in his last four games and is a real threat in the air, something Liverpool won't want to face. West Ham had a horrible start to the season, but they've bounced back against Crystal Palace, beating them 1-0 thanks to a Manuel Lanzini goal. They place fourth on the odds this Gameweek, despite finding goals hard to come by this season there is one standout man when it comes to the Hammers, and that is of course Dimitri Payet. The little magician has played six games this season and has four assists and one goal, he's a joy to watch and is a wizard from both set pieces and open play. Almost everything West Ham do going forwards comes through him, he's without doubt worth considering, starting with Gameweek 9.
