Goalkeepers [mks_col] [mks_one_half] [/mks_one_half] [mks_one_half]If anyone read the Gameweek 27 Tips article last week, choosing which goalkeeper proved slightly problematic for us at FPLBet as our two top choices faced against each other. After almost resorting to a coin toss we eventually opted for Ben Foster, over Fraser Forster for the game between West Brom and Southampton, and we weren't let down. A 1-0 win for the Baggies gave Foster his 11th clean sheet of the season and us a solid start to the Gameweek. Three clean sheets in succession and a home fixture against Aston Villa has left us with no option but to select the Englishman once more, narrowly getting the nod ahead of Joe Hart in goal. [/mks_one_half] [/mks_col] Manchester City face Leicester at home this Wednesday, but with Leicester scoring 11 more goals than the Villians this season, and with Vincent Kompany struggling to find the form from two years ago it was a slightly easier choice than last weeks.
Defenders [mks_col] [mks_one_half] [/mks_one_half] [mks_one_half]With that fixture against Aston Villa it seemed sensible to double up on West Brom defenders to optimise our chances of clean sheets. Making his way in to our starting 11 with a familiar goalkeeper behind him is Gareth McAuley. McAuley will indefinitely start the tie and without a win since December it's hard to see how Aston Villa could worm their way through this resolute Baggies defence. Scott Sinclair appears to be the only player who could foil our plans after the winger set about regaining his previous fantasy status with 2 goals in his first 2 games. However, on paper it seems like we will once again reap the rewards for putting our faith in Albion's defence. [/mks_one_half] [/mks_col] We decided that just two teams would make up our back-line, and as we did with West Brom, we decided to double up on another team in defence and field an attacking 3-5-2 formation. Stoke welcome Everton to the Britannia this Wednesday with the visitor's just six points off the relegation zone. Although its slightly upsetting to see a side that have worked so tirelessly over 10 years to get to where they, in fantasy football management there is no room for kindness and you have to capitalise on a teams bad form. [mks_col] [mks_one_half] [/mks_one_half] [mks_one_half]Everton's recent run of form going in to the infamous cold, rainy night at Stoke has led us to select both Philipp Wollscheid and Erik Pieters to complete our back line. A solid clean sheet in their last fixture against Hull combined Everton's inability to find the back of the net (3 goals in six games) is more than enough reason to put our eggs in one basket. Pieters also offers small attacking returns having popped up with a few assists over the course of this season. With Peter Crouch currently in top form, we're counting our lucky stars that he will head home a Pieters cross tomorrow night at the Britannia. Feel free to tell us if you think that's just extreme wishful thinking. [/mks_one_half] [/mks_col] If you have a bit of money to spare and fancy splashing a bit more on an established defender then John Terry or Branislav Ivanovic would be the best option. A little known fact is that in their last three games in all competitions Ivanovic (2) and Terry (1) are the only Chelsea players to score. After seeing how poorly West Ham coped with Crystal Palace's set pieces at the weekend, we think there's a decent chance Terry or Ivanovic will nod one home or convert a goal line scramble.
Midfielders [mks_col] [mks_one_half] [/mks_one_half] [mks_one_half] With an inexpensive back three we've turned to a flamboyant midfield to hopefully bring us huge returns in Gameweek 28. An obvious addition is that of Christian Eriksen, who is likely to feature in two games in the coming few days, as Tottenham's rescheduled Premier League fixture following there League Cup loss takes place on Saturday against QPR, following their home tie match against Swansea on Wednesday. Eriksen's ability to pop up and score winners late on this season whether in play or from a dead ball hasn't gone unnoticed, and although his goal scoring record hasn't been as positive of late in his upcoming fixtures were confident of a change in fortunes. [/mks_one_half] [/mks_col] Our QPR coverage this week comes in the form of Matthew Phillips. The young Scotsman has three assists in his last two Premier League appearances and with Charlie Austin's goal-scoring record this season that could increase by this time next week. That form and Leroy Fer's injury that will keep him on the side-line until late April will likely seem him retain his place in the QPR line-up for the ties against both North London clubs Arsenal and Tottenham. [mks_col] [mks_one_half] [/mks_one_half] [mks_one_half] Those of you that favoured Liverpool to win against Man City on Sunday will have likely tallied up a nice amount of differential points somewhere in midfield... that's if you backed you predictions. Jordan Henderson and Philippe Countinho had evidently been working on their long range efforts on the training ground, with their two wonder strikes proving enough to condemn City to remain five points adrift of Chelsea. Raheem Sterling was the provider for both goals that day, and with Liverpool's form since the start of 2015 currently the best in the league so it only seemed right to back them once more by including the rapid youngster in our squad. [/mks_one_half] [/mks_col] Arsenal may look as though they are heading out of the Champions League courtesy of Arsene Wenger's former side AS Monaco, but in the league it's been a slightly different story of late... The gap between themselves and Manchester City is now just four points, and despite Liverpool and Manchester United on their heels Arsenal could pose a threat to City We decided to go for Mesut Ozil last week ahead of Santi Cazorla, in the hope that the German could provide us with a return and boy did he deliver. 90 minutes and two assists later and Mesut now has four assists in 2015. With Oliver Giroud in exceptional form and a short trip to QPR were hopeful Ozil will once again provide us with a similar points tally to the one on Sunday. This Arsenal side have an array of midfielders who have been providing of late however, and despite Alexis Sanchez playing third fiddle to Cazorla and Ozil at the moment its surely just a matter of time until he regains that form prior to his short tenure on the bench through injury. [mks_col] [mks_one_half] [/mks_one_half] [mks_one_half] With Chelsea returning to action this gameweek following there League Cup victory it seemed only fitting to invite Eden Hazard back into our team. Many will have missed him, and some will be confident he can make an immediate impact on our gameweek squads away at West Ham. Their poor run of form as we talked about earlier hasn't gone unnoticed and with defensive frailties a big issue for the Hammers last week against Palace, Hazard may be the scorer turn provider for a long list of Chelsea players who could find the net. Howeever, when you're mentioning assists and Chelsea within the same sentence you cannot fail to mention the mighty Cesc Fabregas. [/mks_one_half] [/mks_col] The Spaniard currently sits comfortably top of the Premier League assist table with 15 to his name, 5 clear of under performing Manchester United midfielder; Angel Di Maria. But with the Belgian offering slightly better attacking returns, we've opted for him this weekend... Sorry Cesc!
Strikers [mks_col] [mks_one_half] [/mks_one_half] [mks_one_half]A familiar strike force will likely lead the line for the majority of fantasy team this weekend. Harry Kane has two matches to find the net, and with his goal scoring record of late you'd be pretty mad to leave him out. The 21-year old now has six goals in his last four Premier League matches, more than enough for the most fantasy football managers to snap him up and stick him as captain this Gameweek. There could be some who believe the striker will be rested. However, at his tender age I'm sure Tottenham won't want him turning out like a certain Jack Wilshere and for that reason many will opt for Kun Aguero. [/mks_one_half] [/mks_col] It was just an assist for the Argentinian against Liverpool after his lifeline for City in the Champions League. That goal against Barcelona was the strikers fourth in three matches at the time, and he'll be on the hunt to add to his collection at home to foot of the table Leicester City. Wayne Rooney also deserves a mention. With Robin Van Persie now injured it looks as though Rooney has been recalled to the frontline alongside Falcao. Rooney once scored a banger against Newcastle and he could find his way onto the score-sheet again now he's seemingly rediscovered his ability to find the back of the net. Elsewhere, Saido Berahino would have been a solid contender for selection as the Baggies visit out of form Aston Villa. However, the England U21 limped off against Southampton during the week and faces a late fitness test ahead of tomorrows fixture. With lots of similarly prices strikers with favourable fixtures, we advise you seriously consider your options if you're thinking of selecting Berahino.
