Gameweek 12 Clean Sheet Analysis - Fantasy Premier League Tips

Share post on:

In preparation for Gameweek 12, we've compiled statistical data, alongside the bookies odds, to create a defensive forecast. Hopefully this chart and the underlying stats included will help you out for FPL selection, as well as being a useful visual aid for daily fantasy players. How is the data calculated? Every team has been rated on a scale of 1 to 20 (1: best in the league, 20: worst in the league) based on form, fixture and odds. We've then totalled these findings and colour coded them so you can clearly visualise which clubs have the best clean sheet potential in Gameweek 12. * Based on feedback that we have received over the last few weeks, we've decided to weigh down the odds section by 50% as it factors in both form and fixture. All statistics have been taken from the last four gameweeks, as we feel this provides a fair comparison with the likelihood of each club having two home and two away fixtures.

Gameweek 12 Clean Sheet Potential: Form Vs. Fixture Vs. Odds:

gw12-clean-sheet-forecast Observations from table: Chelsea made it five clean sheets on the bounce after their 5-0 victory over Everton in Gameweek 11. Having previously recorded them against Leicester, Man United & Southampton it's becoming clear that Chelsea are fixture-proof and are capable of shutting out any team in the league. This week's opposition Middlesbrough rank as the 7th worst attack (from their last four) having found the net just three times and created only 1.25 big chances per game. Chelsea are the bookies favourites to keep a clean sheet in Gameweek 12 and the only team who are forecasted as very likely on our table. Tottenham place narrowly behind Chelsea ahead of their favourable fixture at home to West Ham. The Hammers' have only managed three goals from their last four Premier League matches and despite all of their class up top, have only mustered up two big chances. Spurs' have been a go-to side for clean sheets all season and up until last game week had managed a clean sheet in every other game. They have the second highest number of clean sheets in the league and have conceded the least amount of goals (6), three less than Chelsea. Despite struggling in attack, West Ham have improved defensively and last month recorded their first two clean sheets of the campaign against Crystal Palace and Sunderland. Tottenham have an identical attacking record to West Ham except they've created one more big chance over the last four weeks. Tottenham vs West Ham looks set to be a low scoring encounter, though it's important to note that neither side have kept a clean sheet in their last two. Spurs' will also be boosted by the availability of Harry Kane who scored on his debut last time out. Read: Five Tips For FPL Gameweek 12 Although it's neck and neck when looking at form and fixture, the bookies odds create a margin that supports our points made above. Watford make up the top four and boast one of the strangest defensive records from their last four matches, with three clean sheets and six goals conceded. Their heavy 6-1 defeat to Liverpool last week ended their run of three consecutive clean sheets and it'll be interesting to see how they respond against Leicester in Gameweek 12. Leicester's form on the road this year has left a lot to be desired. The Foxes' are yet to score more than one goal in any of their matches away from home this campaign. The Premier League winning duo of Vardy and Mahrez have only managed three goals between them and as a result they sit 14th, just two points from the relegation zone. Much like Tottenham vs West Ham, Watford vs Leicester is also forecasted to be a low scoring fixture. Despite having one of the most in-form defences, Watford have one of the most of out of form front lines in the league. Watford's strong defensive form combined with their poor attacking form suggests a clean sheet for both sides, with the bookies backing Leicester as the narrow favourites. There's not much to separate the five other teams who make up the top half our table. Sunderland rank fifth despite having third worst defensive form in the league. The Black Cats' host a Hull City side who have only managed three goals and a worrying low one big chance from their last four matches. Elsewhere, Arsenal, Man City, Everton and Liverpool have been forecasted an average chance of a clean sheet in their fixtures. Whilst Crystal Palace and Southampton are expected to suffer heavily in the hands of Chelsea and Man City.
