FPL Potential
Alberto Moreno (4.9m) 4.9% Ownership
[Fixtures: Norwich (a), Leicester (a), Sunderland (H), Aston Villa (a), Everton (H)]
With a collection of difficult fixtures behind them, Liverpool can look forward to their next 5 matches and approach each and every one of them as favourites. At this price, Alberto Moreno, who has established himself as the first choice left back on Merseyside, offers excellent value. He is always looking to contribute offensively and has even taken his fair share of corners in recent months. Moreno has made an average of 2 key passes per game, which is more than Riyad Mahrez, Alexis Sanchez, Philippe Coutinho and any defender in the Premier League this season. Another positive for selecting the Spaniard is his low ownership - if Liverpool secure a clean sheet this weekend, people will begin jumping on the bandwagon. To counteract this, your best option is to pick up Moreno now before his price and popularity begin to creep up.
Leighton Baines (6.1m) 3.4% Ownership
[Fixtures: Swansea (H), Newcastle (H), Stoke (a), West Brom (H), Liverpool (a)]
As every fantasy football fan knows, Leighton Baines holds the skillset to be FPL gold and with two assists in his last outing, this could be a sign that he's back. Many will declare that the Everton veteran is overpriced, however, lighter on the bank than Otamendi, Smalling and Terry, Baines looks an attractive proposition - in the same price bracket as Hector Bellerin. You just have to dig into his FPL past to get an idea of his potential; in the last 7 seasons his overall points total has never dropped below 128 - contributing with 23 goals and 50 assists over this time frame! Baines is also a magnet for bonus points having racked up 24, 26 and 21 in the last 3 campaigns. If he's successful in continuing this level of consistency, Everton's next 5 fixtures should be easy pickings for one of the best point-scoring defenders in FPL history.
Stacking: To pair multiple players from the same team in an effort to increase upside.
(For example, if Liverpool secure a clean sheet in Gameweek 23 and you own 3 of their defenders, instead of 1 your upside is tripled).
Stacking has proven an extremely successful strategy in the past. The best example of profiting from this tactic was on Mondogoal, when Alex Haywood or @HaystackedDFS on twitter placed all of his eggs in one basket (a Newcastle stack in his case) and transformed a £1 entry ticket into a leg-buckling £10,000 he is the biggest U.K daily fantasy football winner to date.
Here are some possible stacks for Gameweek 23 on
FantasyBet (FB) and
Mondogoal (MO).
Low Risk Liverpool (a) stack vs. Norwich
Norwich City are unbeaten in their last five Premier League games at Carrow Road (W3 D2), keeping clean sheets in all three victories and conceding just once in each of the two draws while the visitors have scored just once in their last four Premier League matches away from home. Despite the host's strong home form, they have been awful in their last two matches and we are predicting Liverpool to overwhelm them over the 90 minutes. ‘The Reds' have won 5 out of the last 6 meetings between the sides, scoring 22 goals and conceding just 6 in the process. As mentioned earlier,
Alberto Moreno (FB: 5.0m MO: 8.2m) provides an attacking outlet on the left side of their defence, while Nathaniel Clyne
(FB: 5.5m MO: 7.8m) offers a similar output on the right. Simon Mignolet
(FB: 5.0m MO: 6.3m) is reasonably priced on FantasyBet and is certainly worth considering on Mondogoal.
Medium Risk West Brom (H) stack vs. Aston Villa
When a Tony Pulis side enters the field, you know the opposition will have a tough time breaking them down. They have secured 7 clean sheets, this season; 6 of these coming in the first 10 Gameweeks. 44% of Aston Villa's goals have come from dead ball situations, however, with Chris Brunt picking up an injury last night, West Brom are expected to line-up with 4 centre backs across their backline, so conceding a goal in these circumstances seems unlikely. Selecting
Boaz Myhill (FB: 4.5m MO: 5.4m) will be a popular strategy in the weekend's DFF contests - he's cheap and almost immune to picking up bookings, which is always a possibility with an outfield player, especially with 'The Baggies' combative style. Another two players worth mentioning are
Jonny Evans (FB: 4.5m MO: 8.8m) and
Craig Dawson (FB: 5.0m MO: 7.0m). Both natural CB's, but deployed in fullback roles, they offer more attacking intent, while being encouraged to enter the opposition's box at every opportunity the pair have 3 goals between them this season.
High Risk Tottenham (a) stack vs. Crystal Palace
Crystal Palace have failed to score in 4 of their last 5 Premier League matches and Tottenham have conceded the least amount of goals (9) when playing away from home this season. Put two and two together and that's about as much evidence you need behind our selection. Despite leaking a goal to Sunderland in Gameweek 22, it was completely against the run of play and they dictated throughout. In the heart of defence,
Toby Alderweireld (FB: 5.5m MO: 9.3m) and
Jan Vertonghen (FB: 5.5m MO: 8.6m) have formed a rock-solid partnership and are, without doubt, the best performing CB duo in England's top flight this campaign. Mauricio Pochettino appears content to rotate his fullbacks during the busy schedule, so expect
Kyle Walker (FB: 5.0m MO: 9.4m) and
Ben Davies (FB: 4.0m MO: 9.2m) to return for this one. The latter offers fantastic value in FantasyBet and with their bench feature, you can safely select him.
