Share post on:
Welcome back to another Fantasy Ligue 1 article. NaturalFootyFan returns to pick out his top 5 tips ahead of Gameweek 23. In Gameweek 22 PSG kicked off the weekend by brushing aside Angers, in a more comfortable fashion than some expected. Bastia had a nightmare of a second half, with 2 red cards and an eventual 1-nil loss to Guingamp. Elsewhere, Troyes tasted victory for the first time in 22 Ligue 1 attempts, while Caen won for the first time since November. Here are our tips for Gameweek 23 - all player prices are from our partners at Mondogoal, who provide European Fantasy Football contests on a daily basis.

Tip 1 Nantes' unbeaten run to continue yet again.

Although Troyes were successful in upsetting the odds during Gameweek 22, we feel that Nantes' stubborn backline will be too strong to break down. The Canaries have scraped out some fantastic away results, having beaten Lille, Caen and Nice on the road this season. Troyes will be high on confidence after hitting 3 past Lille on Saturday; nevertheless, it was their first win in 22 Ligue 1 matches and they are still the weakest side in the French top flight. The visitors have drawn 7 of their last 8 Ligue 1 matches and for the third week running, we recommend Remy Riou (6.6m) as a viable keeper choice. Troyes have scored the least goals in Ligue 1 this season and will struggle to get the ball past Riou.

Tip 2 Lyon to win first away match since October.

Lyon have lost just once in their last 11 games against Bastia in Ligue 1 (W6 D4), being unbeaten in the last five (W4 D1). Meanwhile, Bastia are currently experiencing a barren run of form, with 3 red cards and just one win in their last 4 matches. There is potential all over the park for the visitors, with Christophe Jallet (10.6m) being our go-to defender. Although expensive, the 32-year-old has always been a favourite of ours for Fantasy Football, as he tackles, intercepts, assists and also has an eye for goal - overall a well-rounded defender with an average of 7.59 points per game on Mondogoal. At the other end of the field for Lyon, we recommend Mathieu Valbuena (9.5m) and Alexandre Lacazette (9.8m). The former contributed with 13.65 points on Sunday and takes every corner and the majority of free kicks.

Tip 3 Angers to halt Monaco's scoring run.

Since Leonardo Jardim took over as manager, Monaco have transformed from a goal-shy defensive unit into a free-scoring outfit that concedes frequently. They have found the net 21 times in their last 5 matches, in all competitions. However, they come up against Angers a side who have conceded just 4 goals at home all season, which is the fewest in Ligue 1. The Stade Jean-Bouin is perhaps the toughest stadium to visit and this is highlighted by the fact Angers have kept a clean sheet in 77% of their matches here in the 2015/16 campaign. Keeping this in mind, stacking their defenders on Mondogoal could be a smart move.

Tip 4 PSG to steal all three points.

When The Champions are involved there's always a chance of goals galore, but against Saint-Etienne, this hasn't been the case in the past. The Greens are extremely consistent on home soil and come into this fixture on the back of 6 clean sheets in their last 9 matches at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard. On the other hand, Paris Saint-Germain have scored 56 goals after 22 games in Ligue 1 this season, their best ever tally at this stage. So it could well be a battle between the away attack and the home defence. Once again Zlatan Ibrahimovic (19.6m) appears a must-have. Per game this season, Sweden's all-time top scorer has averaged an unbelievable 15.7 points on Mondogoal and has scored 17 goals in 17 Ligue 1 matches. Another player to watch out for is Lucas Moura (12.1m). The tricky winger has averaged 13.5 points over his last 6 appearances and having featured from the bench in Gameweek 22, is expected to start from the off, this time out.

Tip 5 Moukandjo to mark his return with a goal against former club.

Having suffered a minor hamstring strain early in the New Year, Moukandjo will return to the Starting XI for Lorient's encounter with Reims. Goals are expected in this match, as they often are when ‘the 5 port city' is involved. Lorient have conceded in 18 of their 22 Ligue 1 matches this season while Reims have conceded in 19 of their 22 fixtures. These statistics point towards an open contest and if we had to place our money on one player to get on the scoresheet, it would be Benjamin Moukandjo (7.1m). He has contributed to 37% of his side's goals this season and is third in Ligue 1's scoring chart with 11 goals. In November alone, the 29-year-old found the net 4 times, notched an assist and won a Man of the Match award. Hopefully, he can rediscover this deadly efficiency and force his old fans to cover their eyes.
