Fantasy Championship Five Tips For Gameweek 27

Share post on:
Welcome back to another Fantasy Championship five tips for Gameweek 27 article. This week, Joe Dean highlights his top five tips ahead of Gameweek 27 in the English Championship. It was another hectic midweek programme in the Championship, helping to support its claim as the most entertaining league in the world. Souleymane Doukara put Leeds ahead at Ipswich after just 12 seconds, the fastest goal in the Football League so far this season, Burnley and Huddersfield both managed 5-0 wins and early pace setters Brighton lost again. This week saw Charlton re-appoint Jose Riga, with the fans hoping he can steer them to survival as he did 2 seasons ago. He may have his work cut out with the Addicks 23rd and without a win since November. Here are our five tips for Gameweek 27 in the Championship. Our player prices come from our partners over at FantasyBet (FB) & Mondogoal (MO) - they host weekly Championship fantasy fooball contests for cash prizes.

Tip 1 Hull to pile the problems on Charlton

Hull's 2-0 victory over Cardiff on Wednesday moved them above Derby and into the all-important automatic promotion places. Only Burnley and Fulham have scored more than the Tigers this season and their promotion push seems to be gathering pace with 5 wins in their last 7. Steve Bruce's men welcome struggling Charlton, who were thrashed 5-0 at Huddersfield last time out. The performance was so poor that the players have offered to reimburse the fans who had made the trip to Yorkshire. Although you'd expect a response to the midweek hammering and an improved performance under the leadership of Jose Riga, I can't see it being enough to get anything come Saturday. Hull should be too strong for them and top scorer Abel Hernandez (FB: 9.0m MO: £6.4m) will be licking his lips at the prospect of facing such a leaky defence. Sam Clucks (FB: £7.0m MO: £8.7m) would also be a decent shout having already contributed 5 goals from midfield.

Tip 2 Middlesbrough to make it 11 shutouts in a row

Middlesbrough have recovered fantastically from the play off final heartbreak and appear to be running away with the Championship this season. 5 points clear and with a game in hand, a place in the Premier League is theirs to lose. Karanka's men haven't conceded since early November and have won 9 of their last 10 games. They travel down to Bristol City who missed the chance to move out of the bottom 3 by losing at home to Preston on Tuesday. The Robins have only mustered 1 win in their last 11 games so may really struggle against the league leaders. With Boro's extraordinary defensive record, Dimi Konstantopolous (FB: £6.5m MO: £12.0m), George Friend (FB: £6.0 MO: £10.0m) and Dani Ayala (FB: £7.0m MO: £8.9m) would all be smart inclusions.

Tip 3 Another defeat for Bolton

Without a win away all season, bottom of the table and facing a winding up order on Monday, things are looking rather desperate for Bolton. Zach Clough and Mark Davies appear to be on their way out in order to help their financial position. On the pitch they're in serious danger of going under as well. They go to Nottm Forest looking for their first away success since April. Meanwhile Forest are unbeaten in 9, although they have drawn their last 4 games. Dougie Freedman's side will be confident of a result and a clean sheet. With an impressive 5 goals from defence this season, Matt Mills (FB: £5.5m MO: £7.2m) could be important at both ends and might prove a smart investment into your team. Although not prolific this season, Portuguese international Castro Oliveira (FB: £6.5m MO: £7.2m) will be looking to add to his 6 goals on Saturday.

Tip 4 From Forest to Forestieri

Sheffield Wednesday's 3-2 win over Bolton made them the top home goalscorers in the division. Only 2 points off the play offs, the Owls will hope to overcome an improved Leeds side at Hillsbrough. A win could move them into the top 6. Fernando Forestieri (FB: £8.0m MO: N/A) will be looking to add to his goal in midweek with on loan Norwich striker Gary Hooper (FB: £8.5m MO: N/A) looking to add to his 2. Both consistent performers at this level you wouldn't bet against them adding to their tallys on Saturday.

Tip 5 Goal Fest at the John Smiths Stadium

Fresh from an emphatic 5-0 victory on Tuesday, Huddersfield will be looking to continue that sort of form against lowly Fulham. Despite their position of 19th in the table, Fulham are the top scorers in the championship with Ross McCormack (FB: £12.0m MO: £11.8m) as deadly as ever. Moussa Dembele (FB: £5.0m MO: £6.0m) is proving a real talent and will want to impress with plenty of big clubs very interested in the teenager. However, Huddersfield's danger man Nakhi Wells (FB: £9.5m MO: £9.4m) could exploit Fulham's woeful defence and add to his 10 goals. With 2 strong attacking forces and 2 weak defensive records, expect goals in this one.
