Share post on:
Welcome back to another Fantasy Championship five tips for Gameweek 28 article. Joe Dean returns with his top five tips ahead of Gameweek 28 in the English Championship. Last weekend's fixtures saw Middlesbrough concede for the first time in 10 games, Hull put 6 past Charlton in Jose Riga's first game in charge and Brighton get back to winning ways with a hard fought victory at Blackburn. The transfer window is in full swing with most clubs trying to strengthen their survival or promotion chances. QPR have replaced Charlie Austin with Peterborough's Conor Washington while Blackburn have brought in Danny Graham, Elliott Ward and Simeon Jackson. Leeds have lost their battle to keep hold of key player Sam Byram as he completed a move to West Ham this week. Here are our five tips for Gameweek 28. Our player prices come from our partners over at FantasyBet (FB) & Mondogoal (MO) - they host weekly Championship fantasy fooball contests for cash prizes.

Tip 1 Cardiff to ease past Rotherham

After last week's impressive win at Wolves, Cardiff are in serious contention for a playoff spot. Only 5 points off the top 6, they welcome strugglers Rotherham who are only out of the relegation zone on goal difference. The Bluebirds home form has been solid and that combined with Rotherham's poor away record hints that a comfortable Cardiff victory is on the cards. For a team as high as they are, Cardiff have struggled to find a consistent goalscorer, so Russell Slade will be relying on a solid defence to build the foundations for a result on Saturday. Full back Scott Malone (FB: 4.5m MO: 7.0m) has had a good season so far and also provides a threat going forward. Craig Noone (FB: 7.0m MO: 6.9m) was the hero against Wolves with 2 excellent goals, so fans will be looking for him to provide the attacking spark for the Welsh side.

Tip 2 Preston to continue their good form

Simon Grayson has done a fantastic job since taking Preston back to the Championship. One of the teams tipped for a relegation battle, Preston have consolidated superbly and find themselves closer to the top 6 than the bottom 3. Although the playoffs may be a step too far, a mid-table finish represents an excellent season for the Lilywhites. They've won 3 of their last 4 and host Brentford this weekend. The Bees have lost their last 3 and were outclassed by Burnley last time out. With a superb defensive record, Preston's Greg Cunningham (FB: 4.5m MO: 8.5m) could prove good value for money and top scorer Daniel Johnson (FB: 7.0m MO: 9.0m) is likely to be a real threat to Brentford. Joe Garner (FB: 8.5m MO: 6.1m) was lethal last season and despite only 3 goals in his injury hit season, he may fancy himself to score on Saturday.

Tip 3 Brighton to follow up last week's win

Brighton had a real blip following their first defeat of the season and went 5 games without a goal, let alone a win. However they battled hard to a 1-0 victory at Blackburn last week and will be hopeful that they can re-capture some of the form they showed earlier in the season. They host a Huddersfield side who have really struggled away from home this season. The Yorkshire club collapsed from 2-0 up to lose 5-2 at Reading in the FA Cup in midweek - a defeat which will have damaged the confidence of the Terriers. Chris Hughton side's are well known for being resolute at the back so a clean sheet is likely. Lewis Dunk (FB: 6.5m MO: 7.3m) is always a danger from set pieces so he could earn points at both ends. Anthony Knockaert (FB: 8.0m MO: 7.1m), who signed from Leicester earlier this month, was outstanding in the season Leicester got promoted and could be the man to unlock the Huddersfield defence.

Tip 4 Leeds to bounce back against Bristol City

You never know what to expect with Leeds. Before Christmas it had looked like they'd hit form and could even snatch a playoff place. However, since then, they've gone 5 games without a win albeit against some difficult opponents. The fans will hope that the visit of Bristol City will bring that all important win. The Robins occupy a relegation place despite a memorable late victory at league leaders Middlesbrough last weekend and have struggled to adapt to life in the second tier. Bristol City have been poor away from home and struggled for goals, so Liam Cooper (FB: 4.5m MO: 7.3m) would be a sensible inclusion, while Mustapha Carayol (FB: 6.0m MO: 4.2m) will be looking to continue the positive start to his loan spell.

Tip 5 Conor Washington to make an instant impact

After selling talisman Charlie Austin, QPR needed to replace him with real quality. The man they chose was Peterborough top-scorer Conor Washington for a reported fee of £3 million. His eye-catching form in League 1 earned him a chance in the Championship and I'm expecting him to get off to a flyer on Saturday. Wolves themselves were linked with the signing of Washington to replace Benik Afobe so surely it's written in the stars that he will come back to haunt them. Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink's QPR side have enough quality in there to supply the chances, so he could be a big points scorer this weekend.
