It's always a big occasion with every match kicking off in unison and mini-league/overall rank ambitions hanging in the balance. Do you need to leapfrog someone to clinch glory, do you need to hold strong at the top or do you need to improve your overall rank for your own sanity? There's a lot of questions waiting to answered, and there's a lot of personal ‘needs'' ready to be fulfilled. With this mind, I want to help with your final transfers. Instead of the usual labelling of players as ‘safe', ‘high risk' or ‘differential' options, I have decided to summarise player standings in terms of ownership and transfer trends from the most sought-after clubs in Gameweek 38. This is more relevant to the final gameweek, as a ‘differential' is only a ‘differential' if your opponent doesn't own them and vice versa for a ‘safe option'. To simplify, a player's potential varies depending on your current position/ranking, and of course your objective, so use these findings to choose accordingly. The three clubs in focus are Man City, Liverpool and Arsenal. They are the only sides left with 100% commitment to a (proper) cause in the final Gameweek. Just three points separate the trio who battle it out for Champions League qualification. Man City: Gameweek 37 Ownership (Top 10K) [fusion_table] [/fusion_table] There's a misconception that De Bruyne is the most popular City midfielder amongst the top managers when in reality it's Sane who takes the ownership label with 32.7% buying into the German. If you own the youngster and are in a relatively comfortable position e.g. top of your mini-league and aiming to improve your overall rank, hold tight and don't be bullied into upgrading to De Bruyne. Leroy Sane might not be the biggest fan of the Football Association's new ‘diving' regulations, however, his underlying stats are music to the ears of FPL managers. In the last four gameweeks, the 21-year-old has more touches (45) in the opposition's penalty box than any other midfielder. Despite playing 58 minutes more, De Bruyne has only managed 11 touches in the penalty box. This highlights his deeper role since Sterling (31 touches) and David Silva (20 touches) re-joined the mix. Sane and De Bruyne are tied for attempts on goal over this period with 13 a piece, while Sterling has impressively managed 11 attempts in limited minutes. Although I do advise steering clear of the Englishman as Pep seems determined to field both Aguero and Jesus. You may be wondering why I highlighted Yaya Toure's ownership. The main reason is that it's extremely low, but more importantly, I think he has big potential vs. Watford. He had more touches (123) and passes received (107) than any player in Gameweek 37. The Ivorian powerhouse is also very explosive in FPL and has the best potential to come up with a double-figure points haul alongside the highly-owned Sane and De Bruyne. Toure had the second most touches (91) of anyone in the opposition's half during Gameweek 37. To add to his action packed displays, he should also return to penalty taking duty if the opportunity arises. A very likely scenario with a depleted Watford backline and the likes of Jesus and Sane running at them. David Silva is an interesting pick, but I wouldn't use him in an attempt to make up ground. Unlike Yaya Toure, who contributes irregularly with big hauls, Silva is the type to chip in consistently with assists and small returns. In any case, De Bruyne has created a chance every 29 minutes, compared to Silva's 34 this season. Liverpool: Gameweek 38 Transfer Trends [fusion_table] [/fusion_table] So you need to close a gap in your mini-league and you know for a fact your competition either owns Coutinho or plans to jump on the bandwagon and transfer him in. What's the best approach to take and should you match or differentiate from them? First of all, you need to take note of the size of gap between you and your opposition. If you are neck and neck then I would suggest doing the obvious thing and match them. Get Coutinho in, exhale that breath and keep your fingers crossed that your other players can do the business. If you are substantially far behind and need one last leap of faith towards mini-league glory, then getting Sturridge, and possibly captaining him, is the way to go. He's a confidence player who is capable of scoring two or three if he get's on the scoresheet early. In 2013/14, Sturridge's most prolific season, he contributed with 22 goals and seven assists. There's no doubting his potential and with 28 touches in the opponent's third at the weekend, he'll be looking to set down a marker with next season in mind. Lallana is another option. Being less explosive than Sturridge, I wouldn't attempt to close a gap on a Coutinho owner by transferring him in, instead, you should re-invest elsewhere and field him alongside the Brazilian midfielder. Rewind to the first six Gameweeks and Lallana was hot property with three goals and as many assists and he clearly enjoys playing Middlesbrough with two goals, an assist and the man of the match award in the reverse fixture this season. With just over 10000 picking him up for Gameweek 38, it's a good opportunity to jump up the overall rankings if Lallana returns. As mentioned in the intro, all of the games kick off simultaneously, so if you end up owning both Coutinho and Lallana, Liverpool vs. Middlesbrough at Anfield could be a joy to watch. Arsenal: GW 37 Ownership (Top 10k) & GW38 Transfer Trends [fusion_table] [/fusion_table] It's fairly self-explanatory with Arsenal. To begin with, you should own Sanchez, no matter your mini-league position or overall rank target. He has totalled 38 points over the last three gameweeks with four goals, an assist and seven out of a possible nine bonus points… yeh, you'd have to be a nutter not to have him. Moving onto Giroud, you can see that he's been popular on the market in the last few days. He is the sixth most transferred in player thanks to three goals and an assist in his last three appearances. If you already own Sanchez and Kane, the two players I feel are a necessity for the final match, then Giroud is a great alternative to Jesus, Sturridge, and the inexpensive yet second most transferred in striker Llorente. I transferred Giroud in before Gameweek 37 because of his a knack to finish seasons in style. Last season he bagged four goals and two assist in his final three matches and looks on course to wrap up the season in this fashion once again. Arsenal are unbeaten in their last 20 Premier League home games against Everton (W16 D4) and the Frenchman has found the net four times in his last three matches against them at the Emirates. Your third and final option from Arsenal is Mesut Ozil. He's gone relatively under the radar in the lead up to GW38 with less than 8000 getting him in. This surprises me as the number 10's underlying statistics on Tuesday were unbelievable. Yes, he was playing a David Moyes side, but 12 chances created is unknown territory for most players. In the last four gameweeks, he also leads the Premier League for touches in the final third (274, which is 132 more than Dele Alli) and passes received in the final third (174).   Similar to the Coutinho/Lallana combination I mentioned earlier, the best way to integrate Ozil is alongside Sanchez. An expensive move, but one that could shoot you up the mini-leagues and overall standings. Good luck on Sunday!
