GW8 Stats - The Top Ten

Share post on:

Premier League GW8 Starts Friday 6th November 2020

As we approach another international break (boo), we can at least look back on another incredible week of Premier League action (yay) and that means, a quickfire take on which players are leading the way in terms of overall points scored in the FPL world.

A sign of a good FPL manager is selecting not only the big hitters that guarantee points, but also those bargain names that have got off to a good start and will be a key component of any successful squad going forward.

Of course, you would not be able to fit all of the top 10 in your team, not to mention you cannot select five or six strikers either but the more of these you do possess, the better your chance of quickly moving up your own league tables.

Therefore, without further ado, here is what the latest top 10 looks like in terms of overall FPL points scored:

Once again it is the Tottenham connection who lock at the top two spots in the table, although there is a slight difference and that comes with both Hueng min-Son and Harry Kane being tied on 71 points.

It was a quiet weekend for Son, so we should take a moment for all of those who selected him as captain (this writer included) and with Kane scoring a penalty against Brighton, he now shares the top step of the league ladder.

While staying in third as a non-mover is Liverpool's Mohamed Salah and although his pirouette in the West Ham penalty area was certainly questionable, his own penalty effort was not and he has managed to rack up a few more points for his efforts.

Moving up to fourth in the list is Jamie Vardy and after scoring against Leeds on Monday night, is there a case for the now former England international, to now become the now current England international?

He nudges Jack Grealish into fifth, as the Aston Villa forward found the net against Southampton and had there been more additional minutes than the seven that were played on Sunday, who knows if the West Midlands outfit could have made it 4-4?

He is a point clear of Callum Wilson who earned a brace of goals against Everton and although Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored in injury time, it was not enough to help his team or his own decreasing standing in the FPL table.

While the point behind pattern continues in eighth place, as Patrick Bamford drew a blank on Monday and in ninth, Wilfried Zaha is still probably arguing about the lack of penalty award against Wolves.

Rounding out the top 10 is Southampton's Danny Ings and even though he scored against Aston Villa on Sunday, the sight of him picking up an injury is enough to make FPL managers wince all over the world.

Did You Know?

There have been under 2.5 goals scored in 14 of Wolves's last 17 games (Premier League). Then again with the form that Leicester have been on lately, that might not be the case this Sunday lunchtime.

Liverpool are undefeated in 34 of their last 38 matches (Premier League). Therefore, if you took that run as the equivalent of a whole league season, they have lost just four of those outings. Still the invincible campaign is already done for after that 7-2 thrashing at Villa Park.

Manchester City have been winning at both half time and full time in 8 of their last 9 home matches (Premier League). Can they keep the run going against Liverpool on Sunday?

Crystal Palace have played the fewest accurate long balls per game in the Premier League this season, with 15.57. An interesting stat, but not as interesting as Roy Hodgson's decision to go with a 4-3-3 at Wolves last Friday, that change of shape proved to be rather costly in the end.
