GW6 Stats - The Top Ten

Share post on:

Premier League GW6 Starts Friday 23rd October 2020

With that first international break now fully behind us, the Premier League returned with a bang and as the goals continue to land in the back of the net, it means the ability to earn a plentiful amount of FPL points has certainly not diminished.

It seems as if all the money should be spent on big name forwards or midfielders and to hell with defenders, because let's be honest the backline is hardly worth 0.1 of your budget in this first month of the season.

Of course, you cannot avoid picking defenders, it's just that with the goals coming thick and fast, there seems to be a genuine imbalance in terms of points scoring potential and with all the numbers crunched, it is time to review the current top 10 in terms of overall players.

The question that everyone is probably asking themselves right now, is one that involves the conundrum of fitting both Harry Kane and Heung min-Son in their fantasy teams and when you look at the partnership they have formed, you must do this at all costs.

With Kane playing a slightly deeper role, almost akin to someone like Roberto Firmino for Liverpool, there was always the danger that he would sacrifice his goalscoring prowess in return for high quality link play.

However, after a brace against West Ham on Sunday, this is certainly not the case and with these two goals plus an assist within the first 45 minutes of the game, the England international has moved to the top of the FPL points tree.

With 60 points from the first five gameweeks, Kane is averaging 12 points per game and that is before you are smart enough to select him as your captain, which could mean double or if you are really brave, triple points.

His overall performance has just nudged Son into second place, but they now both possess daylight over Mohamed Salah and with the Egyptian scoring against Everton last weekend, he holds on to third place in the charts.

While it is another player who scored in the Merseyside derby who stays put in fourth place and with Dominic Calvert-Lewin finding the net once again, he and Kane could be a fearsome attack duo in your FPL team.

Fifth place goes to James Rodriguez, who swaps ranks with Jack Grealish this week and with the starts that both Everton and Aston Villa have had this season, it is fair to say either would be a welcome addition to an FPL squad right now.

Callum Wilson has taken advantage of Jamie Vardy's inactivity to move up to seventh, while the same can be said for both Wilfried Zaha who finds himself back in the top 10 and Brighton's Neal Maupay, as Vardy clings onto joint ninth with the Brighton forward.

Did You Know?

Liverpool have been winning at both half time and full time in 25 of their last 35 home matches (Premier League). Just how much of a difference will the lack of Virgil Van Dijk make to the team, as he looks set to be out for the rest of the season?

There have been over 2.5 goals scored in Chelsea's last 9 away games (Premier League). With the Blues propensity for conceding goals and ‘keeper issues still lingering, this might be a shrewd bet for the weekend.

Arsenal have won 8 of their last 9 home matches (Premier League). Not good news for Leicester, as they will look to keep the Gunners below them in the Premier League table.

Then again, Leicester have scored the most penalties in the Premier League this season, with 5. Therefore, if they can get a lucky break in the box, they may just scupper the impressive home form that Arsenal currently possess.

Andrew Robertson (Liverpool) has attempted the most crosses including corners in the Premier League this season, with 52. Is Robertson having the better season that Alexander-Arnold so far? Then again, we are only five games in and it is a little early to make such a conclusion.
