GW21 Stats - The Top Ten

Share post on:

Premier League GW21 Starts Saturday 30th January 2021

The first 10 of 40 Premier League games within the space of a fortnight have been now completed and with little time to rest (actually let's be honest there is absolutely no time at all), there's another abundance of FPL action this weekend.

Action, that could start a championship charge or leave you trailing in the dust and if you are in the latter group, then it might be time to look ahead to next season. However, if you are in the former, now really is the time to focus.

Because these quickfire deadlines have a habit of catching you out and if you don't stay on top of proceedings, then the ability to score a bundle of points will have been diminished. Then again, if you are amid a championship charge, you probably eat, sleep, and breathe this game already.

Which means, nothing is going to get past you and because you are so switched on, you've probably got a considerable amount of the current top 10 points scorers in your squad and if you have, lets recap on just who is in this illustrious list.

It's fair to say that it was a gameweek to forget for the top three and especially for the name at the pinnacle of proceedings. That's because, not only did Tottenham turn in a poor performance against Liverpool, but their talisman went off injured at half time.

Which means, Harry Kane's points scoring ability has been nullified for at least the next few weeks and by the time we revisit this topic next Monday, the England captain will surely be knocked off top spot.

Should that prove to be the case as expected, then the question is who will replace him and with Bruno Fernandes currently lying second, the Manchester United star will surely be the heir apparent to Kane's crown.

Then again, no Kane to call upon for Tottenham, means that third place Heung min-Son should play in a more central role and this could lead to a hefty points tally being accrued away at Brighton on Sunday.

While because the top three had such a bad midweek at the office, it means Mohamed Salah has closed the gap in fourth and in doing so, has also put some distance between himself and another inactive English forward, that being Leicester's Jamie Vardy.

Due to that inactivity, Jack Grealish is now in the headlights and looking to break into the top five by the end of the week and with Patrick Bamford still lying seventh, he is now closely entertaining a new entry to the list.

Sadio Mane has been awfully quiet by his own standards, but a respectable tally against Tottenham has thrust the Senegalese forward into eighth, as he leapfrogs above a returning Wilfried Zaha to the top 10 and Dominic Calvert-Lewin who is now bringing up the rear.

In terms of the highest scoring defender, that accolade is currently bestowed to Aaron Cresswell of West Ham with 92 points. While in terms of the man between the sticks, the highest scorer is currently Burnley's Nick Pope with 95.

Did You Know?

Manchester United have won 12 of their last 14 away matches (Premier League). After chucking away top spot in midweek, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will have to hope this impressive run of away results continues at Arsenal on Saturday.

West Brom have conceded at least 4 goals in their last 3 home matches (Premier League). This is the one thing that Sam Allardyce did not want to happen and with defending like this, relegation looks a very realistic proposition at the end of the season.

Manchester City have won their last 7 matches (Premier League). The light blue juggernaut is picking up pace at just the right time.

Manchester City have made the fewest interceptions per game in the Premier League this season, with 8.53. I would think that's more because they have so much possession, that they don't actually need to intercept the ball in the first place.
