Premier League GW17 Saturday 14th December 2019

As we move further into the month of December and you've eaten a couple more doors of your advent calendar, it's fair to say that the drama in the Premier League is building just in time for the busy festive period.

It may be that the league title is already won and although Liverpool fans will undoubtedly be unbearable when it finally is their year, at least before then you can quiet them down with some perfect social football fodder.

Because it's everyone's favourite time of the week and that it means it's time for (drum roll please)

Did You Know?

Liverpool are undefeated in their last 46 home matches (Premier League). That is going to be quite the baptism of fire for Nigel Pearson, as he takes official charge of Watford this Saturday. Let's hope he doesn't call any journalists Ostrich's in the post-match press conference.

Liverpool are now undefeated in 33 Premier League matches just 17 more to go to break the English record of 49. Can they do it, you honestly would not bet against them at this point of the season.

In addition to that, Jurgen Klopp's men have lost just once in their last FIFTY-FOUR Premier League outings. As the number increases, I'm running out of ways to explain just how impressive this streak actually is.

Leicester have won their last 8 matches (Premier League). Then again I could say the same about Leicester, eight wins on the spin is an incredible streak and there is no doubting that they are worthy of a top four place right now and if Jamie Vardy stays fit, they will stay there at the end of the season.

Talking of Vardy, he now has 16 league goals for the season and that means he has been responsible for 41% of all of the Foxes goals so far. Brendan Rodgers will need to make sure the evergreen forward stays fit and healthy.

The same could be said for Danny Ings, who is now responsible for half of all the goals that Southampton have scored in the league this season. All of a sudden, he has been an FPL guaranteed starter and at very decent value also.

While whisper it quietly, could Jonjo Shelvey be part of your FPL consideration? The Newcastle midfielder has scored in the Magpies' last three league matches and consequently, is now the club's top scorer this season.

While Steve Bruce has a huge debt to pay to his defenders and midfielders this season, it's almost ludicrous the amount of goals that have come from those two thirds of the pitch and Joelinton is now so out of sorts, he's even being replaced by Andy Carroll up front.

There have been over 2.5 goals scored in Man City's last 7 games (Premier League) and with both teams having defensive issues as of late, there could not be a better tip for Both Teams To Score on Sunday.

Wolves are now unbeaten in their last 11 league outings and although I mentioned that they're a good shout to win this season's Europa League, the top four is not outside the realms of possibility either.

Bournemouth have lost their last 5 league outings, are they now in a relegation battle? Could it also be a case of Eddie Howe staying on too long? Some questions that may be answered over the weeks and months ahead.

Everton have lost possession due to a bad first touch the most times per game in the Premier League this season, with 17.31. They won't make that mistake with Big Dunc in charge, you do not want to make that man angry.

Crystal Palace have had the fewest shots on target per game in the Premier League this season, with 3.19. That is pretty bleak reading, their saving grace is the fact that they are relatively efficient in front of goal. However, their touch certainly deserted them last Saturday.

Bernd Leno (Arsenal) has made the most saves in the Premier League this season, with 69. You dread to think what plight the Gunners would be in this season, were it not for the presence of the German goalkeeper.

Nick Pope (Burnley) has made the most inaccurate passes in the Premier League this season, with 268. Pope, Jesus (Manchester City), there's a religion team in their somewhere, let us know your additions in the comments below.
