Premier League GW13 Saturday 23rd November 2019

It's time to celebrate. Not just because there are no more international breaks until March but also because we are now at the start of a bumper period of Premier League football. From here on in, is when the season really begins.

No more stop-start, no more “wait until the clocks go back”, no more “our season starts next week” from here until March 2020 (bar some annoying F.A. Cup weekends) it is full steam ahead and that means it is time for another round of conversational pub fodder to impress your mates with.

Did You Know?

Liverpool have lost just one of their last FIFTY-TWO Premier League matches. It almost begs the question as to whether this a better achievement than the Invincibles of Arsenal back in 2004. I guess the Gunners do have a Premier League trophy to show for their efforts, perhaps we will ask that question once again at the end of the season.

Another question that may have to be asked, is whether or not Liverpool themselves could become only the second team to become ‘Invincible'. They are a third of the way there, just another two thirds left to go. The way they are playing right now, you wouldn't put it past them.

While we should not forget that Liverpool have won 20 of their last 21 matches (Premier League). That's 61 points that they have earned from the last 63 on offer, with Manchester United being the only team to take points off of them during that run.

Manchester City have won 23 of their last 26 home matches (Premier League) and they might need that form to continue because, Chelsea have won their last 6 matches (Premier League). Something will have to give this Saturday evening.

Wolves have the second best current unbeaten streak in the Premier League, with Nuno Espirito Santo's men having avoided defeat in their last seven outings.

On the flip side both Southampton and Norwich have failed to win any of their last seven league outings. While they've also only picked up just a single point from the last 21 that have been offer.

Leicester have the meanest defence in the Premier League, as Brendan Rodgers men only concede an average of 0.75 per goals a game.

While in addition to that Jamie Vardy stays top of the goalscoring charts and he has contributed to 38% of the Foxes Premier League goals this season.

Chris Wood (Burnley) has strayed offside the most times in the Premier League this season, with 18. How many of them have been decided because of VAR, I'm not too sure.

Let's get a quick update at what both Nicolas Pepe and Joelinton actually do?

Nicolas Pepe (Arsenal) 742 minutes, 1 goal
Joelinton (Newcastle) 974 minutes, 1 goal

In summary: Not a lot

Wilfried Zaha (Crystal Palace) has completed the most successful dribbles in the Premier League this season, with 55. However, he has made just 1 assist all season. Could you say that he is all pace (with a little bit of whingeing) and no end product?

Newcastle United have attempted the fewest passes per game in the Premier League this season, with 312.33. Interesting, but after winning their last two league matches, you would have to say this policy of not passing to each other is just about working.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool) has attempted the most crosses excluding corners in the Premier League this season, with 97. When you consider that he is almost playing as a right winger for Liverpool, it's impressive although perhaps not all that surprising either.

Not only that but he has attempted the most passes off the ground in the Premier League this season, with 156. Say that one to your mates, not when you are going on a first date with a prospective partner.

Bernd Leno (Arsenal) has made the most saves from long shots in the Premier League this season, with 24. If the Gunners had a better defence, then the German shot stopper wouldn't need to be so busy and although long shots seem to be ok, it seems that short range ones are more of an issue.

Norwich have attempted the fewest crosses per game in the Premier League this season, with 11.58. On the recent evidence, they aren't even attempting to win football matches.

Sheffield United have attempted the most long balls per game in the Premier League this season, with 74. It's not pretty, but it is certainly is effective and credit to Chris Wilder for finding a blueprint that is working for the Blades.

Bournemouth have made the fewest tackles per game in the Premier League this season, with 13.5. The personification of their manager Eddie Howe, he's a nice chap isn't he, someone your Mum would be a big fan of.
