Premier League GW12 Friday 8th November 2019

We've reached that time of the week where we serve up another raft of stats that you may not have been aware of and not only does it make for perfect pub fodder, you can also pass these off as your own with some confidence.

So if you want to impress your mates down the local and be known as the village statto, then take a look at the latest selection of ‘Did You Know' facts and figures.

Did You Know?

Liverpool are undefeated in their last 43 home matches (Premier League). Not only that but they have lost just one of their last 49 in the competition and if they can extend that run to the weekend, they will have recorded the same run of results as the legendary Arsenal team of 2004.

That run would be just a single defeat in 50 matches, although Arsenal's loss came at the fiftieth attempt and they are still the only team to have gone through a Premier League campaign as invincible.

If Liverpool can keep their unbeaten start intact, they will increase their chances of repeating Arsenal's achievement of fifteen years ago. However, the opposition that lies in wait may have something to say about that…..

Manchester City have won 22 of their last 25 matches (Premier League). I guess what is more surprising, is that of the three defeats that Pep Guardiola's men have suffered during this spell, two of those have come at the start of this campaign. How costly will that prove come the end of the season?

Brighton have failed to win 33 of their last 37 away matches (Premier League). Not good reading for this weekend's trip to Manchester United, although Graham Potter's men will certainly take comfort in picking ten points from the last twelve that have been available at The AMEX.

Manchester United have had their passes intercepted the most times per game in the Premier League this season, with 13. To be honest, it did feel like that was all I was watching them do against Bournemouth last Saturday. No doubt, the players will have blamed the weather on the South Coast.

Aston Villa have blocked the most shots per game in the Premier League this season, with 6.45. It's fair to say that Dean Smith's men have certainly been kept busy defensively in these past two weeks. However, now that Manchester City and Liverpool are out of the way, they should be well placed to get some more points on the board.

Norwich and Tottenham have the worst clean sheet record in the Premier League this season. They've both kept just one and although you may expect that from the Canaries, Spurs fans are now asking serious questions as to what is going wrong in the white half of North London.

Sheffield United and Leicester have the most watertight defences in the Premier League this season. The Blades and the Foxes have conceded just eight times in their first 11 matches of this campaign. A stat that shows that it is not all about scoring goals but keeping them out at the other end.

Wolves currently have the second longest unbeaten run in the Premier League with six matches they have drawn four of them though and they continue to live up to their mantle of draw specialists, with Nuno Espirito Santo's men drawing seven of their first eleven outings.

Arsenal have received the most yellow cards in the Premier League this season, with 26. Is ill discipline creeping in at The Emirates and are Unai Emery's men to busy focusing on the dark arts at the moment, their current run of results would suggest that they are.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has scored fifty percent of Arsenal's Premier League goals this season. If he carries them anymore, he will end up giving himself a serious back injury.

Burnley have completed the fewest passes per game in the Premier League this season, with 219.55. However, they have won the second highest number of aerial duels per game, as Sean Dyche's men win the ball in the air an average of 22.7 times.

Luka Milivojevic has earned the most yellow cards this season, with the Crystal Palace midfielder being admonished by the referee no fewer than six times.

While staying on the subject of yellow cards but looking at it from a referee's point of view. Mike Dean has brandished an average of 4.78 a game, the highest of all the Premier League officials, then again that probably comes as no real surprise now does it.
