Sheffield United vs West Ham
The Premier League action resumes on Friday night and after suffering back to back away defeats, Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder will be glad that the Blades are back at the familiar surroundings of Bramall Lane.
They play host to a West Ham side who have recently installed David Moyes as manager and after an impressive win over Bournemouth, the Scot will hope for more of the same this weekend.
Prediction: Sheffield United 1-1 West Ham
Crystal Palace vs Arsenal
Crystal Palace were one of the handful of Premier League outfits that were dumped out of the F.A. Cup last weekend and although the defeat to Derby will undoubtedly rankle, it does mean the Eagles' fixture calendar becomes a little less hectic.
This Saturday sees them play host to Arsenal and after back to back wins in all competitions, it sees as if new manager Mikel Arteta is starting to find his groove at the Emirates.
Prediction: Crystal Palace 0-1 Arsenal
Everton vs Brighton
With the strength of the team that Carlo Ancelotti named last Sunday, he will have been as shocked as anyone to see his new Everton charges dumped out of the F.A. Cup and especially to such a young Liverpool team.
This weekend sees the Toffees play host to Brighton, who themselves tasted cup defeat and manager Graham Potter will be hoping for better fortunes when their league campaign resumes.
Prediction: Everton 2-0 Brighton
Leicester vs Southampton
Back to back league defeats has all but scuppered any faint hopes of Leicester mounting a title challenge and although there will be no repeat of their 2016 fairy tale, they do look well placed to secure a return to the Champions League.
Next up for them is the visit of Southampton, who have turned the corner since conceding nine goals to the Foxes earlier in the season and they will hope for better fortunes this time around.
Prediction: Leicester 3-1 Southampton
Manchester United vs Norwich
Manchester United had a mixed festive period and although they currently find themselves fifth in the Premier League table, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will now that points have also been dropped along the way and they could be crucial come the end of the season.
This Saturday they play host to a Norwich side who have drawn their last two league outings and although they have avoided defeat, they are in danger of being cast adrift at the bottom of the table.
Prediction: Manchester United 2-0 Norwich
Chelsea vs Burnley
Although Chelsea may have dropped points throughout the festive period, their top four rivals failed to take full advantage and that means Frank Lampard's men are in the box seat when it comes to the race for fourth place and the final Champions League berth.
This weekend they play host to Burnley who have lost their last three league outings and if that extends to four in West London, the Clarets might end up being dragged into a 2020 relegation scrap.
Prediction: Chelsea 2-0 Burnley
Wolves vs Newcastle
Wolves will consider themselves a genuine contender to finish in the Europa League places at the end of the season, although manager Nuno Espirito Santo may well decide to bypass this by winning this year's edition of the competition and earning a Champions League entry instead.
This weekend, they play host to Newcastle and after three straight Premier League defeats, manager Steve Bruce knows this slide must stop soon or they could also be dragged into a relegation dogfight.
Prediction: Wolves 3-0 Newcastle
Tottenham vs Liverpool
With Tottenham's stuttering league form, it looks like it could be a bleak mid-winter for the North Londoners and that's before you consider the recent injury to Harry Kane. While in addition to that, Jose Mourinho's men must prepare for the visit of Liverpool on Saturday.
Jurgen Klopp rested all his star names on Sunday, as they made light work of Everton in the F.A. Cup and that means the likes of Mo Salah and Sadio Mane will be ready to cause Spurs plenty of misery.
Prediction: Tottenham 1-3 Liverpool
Bournemouth vs Watford
Bournemouth may have been given some brief Premier League respite at the weekend, as they made light work of Luton in the F.A. Cup. However, it is back to the grind on Sunday and after recent results the Cherries are in desperate need of a win.
They find themselves competing in a relegation ‘six-pointer' this weekend and with a resurgent Watford acting as the opposition, the Hornets will be ready to sting and cause Bournemouth more woe.
Prediction: Bournemouth 1-2 Watford
Aston Villa vs Manchester City
Two wins of the festive period have seen Aston Villa move out of the bottom three, although it must be said that it has come at a cost and with both Tom Heaton and Wesley now out for the rest of the season, manager Dean Smith must decide to re-enter the transfer market.
Before he does, there is the small matter of Manchester City coming to Villa Park and although a third successive league title looks out of the question, Pep Guardiola will not allow his players to coast to the end of the season.
Prediction: Aston Villa 0-2 Manchester City
