Newcastle vs Leeds
After a weekend of cup action and a very curtailed league programme, it is time for a full compliment in midweek. While although there was truly little premier action on Saturday, Newcastle were one of the two outfits that took to the field.
Their defeat to Aston Villa, has extended their run without a win to eight matches and they will look to the visit of Leeds on Tuesday, as the opportunity to finally earn a much-needed victory.
Prediction: Newcastle 0-2 Leeds
Crystal Palace vs West Ham
A period of rest and relaxation for Crystal Palace last weekend and after their heavy defeat to Manchester City in their last outing, they will certainly have needed it. However, now is the time to take to the playing field once more and next up is the visit of high-flying West Ham.
The Hammers are looking upwardly mobile and if David Moyes' men can pick up another victory on Tuesday, they will further enter the conversation regarding the race for European places.
Prediction: Crystal Palace 1-2 West Ham
Southampton vs Arsenal
They may have met in the F.A. Cup on Saturday, but now it is league matters up for grabs and with Arsenal failing to get the better in the last two meetings with Southampton (all competitions), Mikel Arteta's men will look to settle a score.
The two sides played out a 1-1 draw at the Emirates in December, as Arsenal ended the game with 10 men and the Gunners will look to extend their own run of five league matches without defeat.
Prediction: Southampton 1-1 Arsenal
West Brom vs Manchester City
West Brom were another team who were inactive at the weekend and after getting the better of Wolves in their last league outing, they will look to build on such an impressive performance at Molineux.
Not only that, but the last time they faced Manchester City, they managed to hold the Etihad outfit to a 1-1 draw. Then again, even earning a point on the road was not enough to save Slaven Bilic from getting the sack.
Prediction: West Brom 0-2 Manchester City
Chelsea vs Wolves
By the time this article goes live, Frank Lampard will have been shown the Stamford Bridge exit door and for all the money that he spent last summer, ninth place in the Premier League is nowhere near the right amount of return on investment.
Whoever takes the reins next, goes up against a Wolves side that have not won in any of their last six league outings and with Willian Jose now arriving on loan, the forward will look to fix this issue.
Prediction: Chelsea 2-1 Wolves
Burnley vs Aston Villa
Burnley stunned the footballing world on Thursday, as they were the team to finally end Liverpool's incredible run of results at home and now, they will look to build on such a performance, as they entertain Aston Villa at Turf Moor.
Villa, were the other team to take to the field in the league last weekend and after getting the better of Newcastle, Dean Smith will look for his players to keep the pressure on those clubs above them.
Prediction: Burnley 0-1 Aston Villa
Brighton vs Fulham
It may only be January, but this game has all the hallmarks of a relegation ‘six-pointer' and with Brighton getting the better of Leeds in their last league outing, it has turned out to be a rather welcome win for Graham Potter and his players.
They go up against a Fulham side, who have not won any of their last eight league outings and although draws seem to be the order of the day, a win will soon be required by the Cottagers.
Prediction: Brighton 2-1 Fulham
Everton vs Leicester
Although Everton booked their passage into the 5th Round of the F.A. Cup on Sunday, the focus shifts back to the Premier League and a fixture which could have ramifications for theirs and Leicester hopes' of mounting a title challenge.
With the Foxes going top for an evening last week, they have picked up the championship scent once more and they will not want to see their momentum halted after Wednesday's trip to Goodison.
Prediction: Everton 1-1 Leicester
Manchester United vs Sheffield United
Manchester United are top of the table and have also dumped their arch-rivals Liverpool out of the F.A. Cup, which means life is looking rosy for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Something that could not have been said a couple of months ago.
This Wednesday, sees them play host to basement club Sheffield United and although a cup win would have offered some weekend respite, it looks like being back to the league grind in midweek.
Prediction: Manchester United 2-0 Sheffield United
Tottenham vs Liverpool
After an impressive showing against Sheffield United, Jose Mourinho will be hoping that his Tottenham charges now use that result as a springboard for better things and better things, that hopefully start on Thursday.
That's because they play host to a Liverpool side, who are certainly down on their luck and with no league win in their last four, there is arguably no better time for Tottenham to tackle them.
Prediction: Tottenham 1-1 Liverpool
