TOTTENHAM SINGING LIKE A CANARY
It's fair to say that Tottenham were far from their swashbuckling best on Boxing Day and although it was a performance that failed to reach top gear, there is no doubt that their win over Brighton could be hugely important.
That's because coupled with Chelsea's defeat to Southampton later that afternoon, the gap between the two local rivals is back to three points and with Jose Mourinho's men up first this weekend, they have the perfect opportunity to move into fourth place.
To do so, they will have to get the better of a Norwich side that have not won any of their last six league outings and after the resurgence of Watford, the Canaries also go into this clash lying bottom of the Premier League table.
Add that fact that Norwich have conceded at least two goals in their last eight home matches and Harry Kane will be licking his lips at the prospect of going up against such a welcoming group of defenders.
If you think Tottenham will put Norwich to the sword and consign them to further festive misery, then you can back them at odds of 1.70. Should that be the case, then it is a case of over to you Chelsea on Sunday.
Summary: Back Tottenham to win and apply the pressure on Chelsea.
GOALS IN THE CAPITAL
While talking about Chelsea and their fixture the following day, they once again find themselves making a short journey across the capital and after getting the better of one North London outfit, they will look to do a quickfire double.
That's because after making incredibly light work of Tottenham and in turn laying down a marker in the race for fourth place, they will now look to make sure that it is they, that possesses that coveted position at the turn of the year.
If that is to be the case, then they will have to get the better of an Arsenal side that is languishing in mid-table and with Mikel Arteta's first piece of official business resulting in a draw away at Bournemouth, Sunday will see him make his bow at the Emirates.
There's no doubt that Chelsea are better on the road and that was clearly evident when they lost at home to Southampton on Boxing Day. Therefore, Frank Lampard is going to have to ask for another impressive away day performance this Sunday.
The fact that Arteta takes the home reigns for the first time, might just give the Gunners something of a boost and that means, they will be confident of earning at least a point from what is always a keenly contested London derby.
With this game being a close one to call, our attention is arguably better suited to the both teams to score market and if you think that will be the case, you can back this particular outcome at odds of 1.50.
Summary: Back both teams to breach the opposition's net.
SAINTS GO MARCHING IN
After back to back Premier League wins, Southampton have managed to put a small bit of daylight between themselves and the bottom three and with their collective tails now up, the Saints will be looking to extend that run to three.
Standing in their way is a Crystal Palace side who are lying comfortably in the top-half of the table and with just one defeat in their last six outings, Roy Hodgson's men will be confident of adding further points to their already impressive tally.
The Eagles perhaps lack that extra level of consistency to be a genuine part of the Europa League conversation and it is that element of vulnerability, that Southampton will look to expose this weekend.
Ralph Hasenhuttl's men have found something resembling a swagger as of late and this was most definitely on show during their win over Chelsea on Boxing Day, as they almost strolled to a 2-0 win at Stamford Bridge.
This is a team far removed from the one that was thumped by Leicester earlier in the season and although this encounter with Crystal Palace will not be easy, it could represent one of the value bets of the weekend.
That's because with the South Coast outfit being priced at the rather inviting 1.95 and the confidence boost that came with their Boxing Day win, then the Saints just might march on to a third successive league success.
Summary: Back Southampton to get the better of Crystal Palace
