Quarter Final Tips - Women's World Cup - Daily Fantasy Football Tips

Australia vs. Japan 9:00pm (Saturday) England vs. Canada 12:30am (Sunday) In a nail biting game between Germany and France, which required a penalty-shootout, Germany eventually ended triumphant. A deflected strike from Necib gave France the lead on the 64th minute before Sasic levelled with a calmly slotted late penalty. A big surprise, Mondogoal speaking, was the poor show from Mittag. She was booked before being subbed for Marozsan at half time. China PR and the USA contested the other spot in the semi-finals. The USA ran out 1-0 winners with a second half header from Carli Lloyd... They are starting to make a habit of improving drastically in the second half of games. They might need to take a look at that before facing Germany in the semi-finals, as a poor start could leave them stranded. For tonight's Mondogoal fixtures our main country we are backing and will build our team around is Japan. They are the holders of this competition and have dominated just about every game they have played. As for the other picks, it may be slightly controversial that we have included four Canadian players as the majority of our readers are from the U.K.

GOALKEEPER TIPS

Erin McLeod (9m) vs. England In our opinion England will struggle to break down a well-drilled Canada defence. Erin McLeod has been solid so far in the tournament with three clean sheets in just four matches. She is a reliable choice with a points per game average of 8.55.

DEFENDER TIPS

Allysha Chapman (10m) vs. England For tonight we have paired Mcleod with Chapman. She is a marauding left back who hugs the by-line. Chapman has scored 8pts+ in each of her last three appearances. She continuously finds herself in the action areas and has made an impressive 10 successful tackles, as well as winning the same number of free kicks. Chapman will be up against Karen Carney, so not a simple task by any means. Saki Kumagai (7m) vs. Australia Ideally we would have included more than one Japanese defender but we have decided it's best to include more offensive players from the country. The 24 year old is yet to give away a foul in this tournament and will intercept balls regularly. Her main competition for this spot in our defence was her teammate Ariyoshi, but we feel that Kumagai is the more predictable scorer with less chance of conceding fouls. Ashley Lawrence (9.1m) vs. England Readers who followed yesterdays article will be aware that our USA GK/Defence block produced the goods. Taking this into consideration we have decided to play our hand with trebling up on the Canada backline. If you are thinking about filing a space with a Canada defender, the first player we recommend is Lawrence. She is a great out of position pick (OOP) who has been playing in the centre of midfield. Lawrence will have plenty of involvement so expect interception, tackle and passing points. Lucy Bronze (6.4m) vs. Canada England's top performer vs. Norway, even before her thunderous effort into the top corner. We said before that we don't expect England to break down Canada, but it is also likely that Canada will struggle for a goal. They have scored just three in the tournament to reach this stage. Bronze appeared very calm in possession, while also providing some bite going forward. Don't await another screamer of a goal, but she is accomplished enough to deliver in other areas.

MIDFIELDER TIPS

Aya Miyama (9.9m) vs. Australia Miyama is another one of our go to players for Mondogoal. The Japan captain has performed superbly in the tournament and has played every minute. Miyama's points history of 14, 10, 10 and 9 in her last four matches supports the fact that she is a must have in your team. We predict her to pick up several fouls suffered points and a goal or assist added to this would not surprise us in the slightest. Samantha Kerr (6.5m) vs. Japan While watching Australia triumph over Brazil in the last 16, we noted down Kerr as a player to include for the next round. Japan are a very hard team to break down, rarely conceding more than a single goal, however, Kerr's positive attacking style allows her to pick up points whatever the outcome. Kerr is one of the most fouled players in the competition (11 suffered). Playing on the left side of midfield she was another motive behind leaving out Ariyoshi. Rumi Utsugi (5.5m) vs. Australia Our third Japanese inclusion is Rumi Utsugi. Few Mondogoal competitors will own her despite her strong points potential. Utsugi keeps things ticking for Japan alongside Sakaguchi in the middle. She is composed on the ball and will bank passing points with ease. The majority of people will put their money on Sakaguchi, following her goal vs. the Netherlands, but we feel that Utsugi is a more grounded player who will be involved in build up play with great success. A smart differential pick.

FORWARD TIPS

Yuki Ogimi (7m) vs. Australia Our first choice striker is Ogimi. We think that Japan will dominate everything from possession to shots on target so their number 1 striker is an essential inclusion. Ogimi has vast experience of playing in major tournaments and she will be eager to help Japan defend their title this year. The ex-Chelsea striker is very good at linking play and will also look to get behind the Australia defence. She has only found the net once in this tournament but we are confident that she will add to this. Christine Sinclair (14.5m) vs. England Canada - as the host country - will have massive support so we've opted for their veteran striker, Sinclair. She is a very strong forward who will enjoy the physical battle with England's centre-backs. Sinclair was very unlucky not to score against Switzerland, but yet again she was at the focus of things. Lisa De Vanna (9.1m) vs. Japan De Vanna is the type of player that any side would hate to play against. She attacks, she defends and her work ethic is second to none. De Vanna stretches defensive lines and presses the oppositions back four. Japan are a brilliant side for closing down high up the field, but their defence doesn't seem to follow the this tactic. If Japan decide to continue in this way De Vanna will be given space to work and that is when she is most dangerous. We can certainly see her causing Japan problems with her power and pace. YESTERDAYS TOP 3 RECOMMENDATIONS Celia Sasic 17.00pts Louisa Necib 15.50pts Julie Johnston 12.94pts
