Ah, the La Liga is back and lets be honest you wouldn't have known from the games. There were four 0-0's, three 1-0's and only three games where both teams scored. Quite frankly a poor weekend for viewers of Spanish football, but it has to get better from here right?

Clean Sheet Potential
The bookies across the country are indicating that Barcelona, Real Madrid, Villerreal, Las Palmas and Athletic Club Bilbao are the five most likely teams to keep a clean sheet this weekend. Just missing out on the top five are Getafe and Valencia. With that in mind, it wouldn't be the worst idea to select your defenders from the following teams.
Goalkeeper Tips
Saturday
There were 11 clean sheets kept in the opening weekend of La Liga, one of which came from
Claudio Bravo (Mondogoal: 11.1m). The Chilean looks to have secured the starting place in the Barcelona side and justified that selection against Athletic Club with a clean sheet. He wasn't tested much, but he commanded a relatively new defensive line-up and dominated his area. This weekend will be Barcelona's first league game at the Camp Nou this season, what better way to start it with a clean sheet?
Next we obviously move to Real Madrid a pattern you may begin to see with these La Liga daily fantasy football tips as the odds are so appealing, and they are two very good teams.
Keylor Navas (Mondogoal 11.6m) was rarely tested against Sporting Gijon, and this weekend Madrid welcome newly promoted Real Betis. Rafa Benitez really should be looking to keep a clean sheet here. With the agile Navas it should be two clean sheets from two. Navas looks to continue to be the starting keeper for Real Madrid, assuming David de Gea doesn't sign.
Geronimo Rulli (Mondogoal 6.5m) looks a fantastic budget option this weekend. The Argentinian nailed down a starting place last season, and in July extended his loan for a further year. He's highly rated and has been tipped to reach the top. He kept a clean sheet against La Coruna on Saturday and will be looking to do the same this weekend against Sporting Gijon -- who didn't offer much going forward against Real Madrid.
Sunday
Despite conceding this weekend and coming out on the losing side,
Gorka Iraizoz (Mondogoal 9.6m) still managed to accumulate 12.8 points. His save from a Lionel Messi penalty did his daily fantasy football points the world of good. This weekend Athletic Club Bilbao travel to top of the league Eibar (all be it after one game). Ernesto Valverde will be hoping his side can get their first three points of the season along with their first clean sheet at the Ipurua Municipal Stadium.
Valencia were another side to keep a clean sheet this weekend, and with
Mat Ryan (Mondogoal: 8.4m) in goal they've got all the chance of keeping another one this weekend against Deportivo La Coruna. He had a solid game in the opening weekend draw against Rayo Vallecano and will be hoping to continue his form in Gameweek 2.
Rounding out our goalkeepers for La Liga Fantasy Football tips is
Vicente Guaita (Mondogoal: 4.4m). To some it came as a shock that Guaita kept the number one jersey over new signing Balazs Megyeri, but the Spanish shot stopper now looks to be the starter this season. His price is too good to overlook as it enables to you to strengthen in other areas of the pitch. Getafe face Granada who lost 3-1 at home to Eibar in the opening week. If Granada have a repeat of that performance Guita has a great chance to pick you up some points.
Defender Tips
Saturday
Jordi Alba (Mondogoal: 10.4m) is one of the best left backs in the world. Barcelona looked weaker on the left in the opening game week due to the loss of Neymar, but with the Brazilian now back in training you can expect to see Alba providing through balls for him. Alba also has an incredible delivery to him, he picked up his first assist of the season against Athletic Club Bilbao and will be looking to add to that tally against Malaga.
Another highly rated defender is
Raphael Varane (Mondogoal 7.8m). The Frenchman offers a cheaper route into the Real Madrid starting defence, who at home against Real Betis, should be keeping a clean sheet. With that clean sheet comes points for Varane. Spanish media outlet COPE reported this week that although Pepe is 100% and ready to play, Benitez prefers to start with Varane instead.
Our next daily fantasy football tip is a repeat from last week.
Jonny (Mondogoal 6.5m) got his season off to a flyer when he picked up an assist in Celta Vigo's 2-1 win over Levante. Celta play hosts to Real Vallecano on Saturday a game they should be looking to win. Jonny is a cheap defender who is dangerous in the final third.
The final Saturday La Liga Fantasy Football tips is Real Sociedad left back
Alberto de la Bella (Mondogoal: 6.7m). David Moyes' side welcome newly promoted Sporting Gijon this weekend, and although they managed a draw against Real Madrid, Sociedad will be looking to take all three points away from this game. As previously mentioned Gijon didn't offer much going forward which should allow for a clean sheet for all of the Sociedad defence. The defender also has the ability to pick up assists.
Sunday
Despite being away from home,
Aymeric Laporte (Mondogoal: 7.0m) looks a very safe pick. Even with Eibar scoring the most on the opening weekend, things are expected to come to a halt against Athletic Club. The Basque side will be looking to bounce back from their 1-0 defeat against Barcelona. Laporte is one of the best young defenders around and is also a guaranteed starter. Athletic will be looking to keep their first clean sheet of the and Laporte will play a vital role in securing it.
Benoit Tremoulinas (Mondogoal: 7.2m) looks set to be Sevilla's left back for the season. A constant threat down the win the Frenchman already has an assist to his name this season. This pick is more of a risky one though as Sevilla face Atletico Madrid. There is some good news for those wanting Sevilla defenders in their side, Sevilla are undefeated in 26 of their last 27 home matches in La Liga. Unai Emery has made the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan stadium into a fortress.
Next up is Valencia's
João Cancelo (Mondogoal: 6.2m). It's hard to guess who will start at right back against Deportivo La Coruna between Cancelo and Barragan, but the former started the first La Liga game there and was very impressive. The 21-year-old is an attacking fullback who is very dangerous in the final third. You could do a lot worse than picking a cheap Valencia defender.
Finally is Las Palmas defender
David Simon (Mondogoal: 5.9m). Now we are not completely sure of Las Palmas just yet, but the bookies are indicating they should keep a clean sheet against Levante so it suits to provide you with one should you want one in your team. Simon is a right back who is a constant threat down the wing. He's expected to be a starter this season and will look to chip in with a few assists.
Attacking Potential
Another look at the bookies odds suggest that Real Madrid, Barcelona, Celta Vigo, Valencia and Real Sociedad are the five teams with the highest chance of scoring. Newly promoted Las Palmas place joint sixth with Europa League holders Sevilla. It wouldn't be the worst idea to formulate the basis of your attack around these teams.
Midfielder Tips
Saturday
Start with last weeks highest scoring midfielder
Fabian Orellana (Mondogoal: 11.0m). The Chilean winger started his season with one goal and one assist in Celta Vigo's win over Levante. His performance last week has put his price up to 11.0m this week, but if he has a repeat performance it could be well worth having him in your side. If you want a cheaper option in the Celta midfield,
Augusto Fernandez (Mondogoal 5.3m) comes in at under half the price of Orellana. The central midfielder has fantastic vision and can pick out the runs of his strikers almost effortlessly.
This summer, Real Sociedad secured the services of highly rated Portuguese winger
Bruma (Mondogoal 5.0m). He's a very quick, skilful and dangerous player who can unlock opposition defences with ease. With Sociedad playing hosts to Gijon this weekend, Bruma has a great chance to win over the fans and put on a real show for them.
It was only a matter of time before we made our way a Real Madrid midfielder this week, and it's
Luka Modric (Mondogoal 10.4m). With the signing of Mateo Kovacic, many had Modric down as the player whose position he would take, but his performance against Gijon will have secured Modric's starting position for another week. He was one of the shining lights of a frankly poor Real Madrid performance. He will be hoping he can help change Madrid's fortunes this weekend against Real Betis.
Rounding off Sundays tips is
Rafinha (Mondogoal: 9.6m). He didn't have the best of games against Athletic Club and will be hoping to impress Luis Enrique this weekend. There are some questions about where he will play now as Neymar is back in training and could feature on Saturday. If it's on the wing or in central midfield he has the ability to change the game. If you'd like a more creative take a look at
Ivan Rakitic (Mondogoal 11.8m); the Croatian makes things tick in the middle for Barcelona and will be vital to helping them grab 3 points this weekend.
Sunday
First up is
Rodrigo de Paul (Mondogoal: 7.0m), who was a constant threat in the draw against Rayo Vallecano. This weekend Valencia are at home and the creativity of Rodrigo will be needed to help his side secure all three points. He's got tons of skill and has a sixth sense to know where his team mates' runs are. He's also a very good set piece taker that could see him pick up a few assists.
Staying with creative set piece takers, why not take a gamble on
Ever Banega (Mondogoal: 7.0m)? Sevilla's game against Atletico looks to be the match of the weekend, and Benega's creativity is going to be tested more than ever to unlock a very tight defence. We saw in the UEFA Super Cup just how good the Argentine is from a dead ball situation. That ability may also be capitalised on to help Sevilla take the three points. Playing in the same game, but for Atletico, is
Koke (Mondogoal: 9.6m). The midfielder helps things move from defence to attack for Diego Simone's side and is a vital component in their squad. He's going to have to be on top form to help beat Sevilla, but he's shown time and time again he's able to step up to the plate.
If you want a possible differential player, then
Jonathan Viera (Mondogoal: 7.5m) of Las Palmas could do the job for you. Last season he scored five goals and assisted seven before making his move to the Canary Islands permanent. The winger is very dangerous and is going to be vital to both creating chances and finishing them when Las Palmas welcome Levante this weekend.
The last La Liga daily fantasy football tip is for Athletic Club Bilbao midfielder,
Markel Susaeta (Mondogoal: 6.7m). We spoke about the midfielder last week and he's making reappearance again this week. He's a very clever midfielder whose ability on the ball and vision helped him pick up seven assists last season. He was unlucky against Barcelona as he had done everything right, but just couldn't find the killer pass. Eibar gives in the perfect chance to contribute his first goal or assist of the season
Forward Tips
Saturday
This is going to become a weekly tip, but both
Cristiano Ronaldo (Mondogoal: 22.5m) and
Lionel Messi (Mondogoal 19.2m) look too good to turn down. Both players failed to score in the opening weekend with Messi missing a penalty. Something tells us that they wont go two weekends without a goal, and will be starting of their season come Saturday with one, two or possibly three goals. Such is their expensive price, you're likely to only fit one into your side. That decision is up to you as both are unbelievable players.
If you want cheaper alternatives from Real Madrid and Barcelona then
Gareth Bale (10.0m) and
Luis Suarez (Mondogoal: 16.5m) are adequate substitutes for you. Bale is now in his new role behind the striker, and such is his change in position he's now involved in both creating goal scoring opportunities and making them himself. It's baffling that a player of his ability is at a price of 10.0m it's almost too good to say not to. Suarez opened his account this weekend against Athletic Club Bilbao and will be hoping to add to his tally against Malaga. He now plays as the central striker with Messi flanking him to the right, and either Rafinha or Neymar to his left. With them players surrounding him you've almost got to score.
That's the weekly dose of the big hitters out the way, now we look towards David Moyes Real Sociedad who should really be putting a handful past Sporting Gijon.
Carlos Vela (Mondogoal 10.0m) was one of the best players for Sociedad last season and failed to score in the opening game. He's shown in his time in Spain that he's a very consistent goal scorer and provides assists. His form has attracted admires from England but he's stayed put. Their game against Gijon looks way to good to not select a Sociedad forward, so how about another one?
Jonathas (Mondogoal 6.1m) made the move from Elche to Sociedad this summer. He scored 14 goals and assisted seven in his debut La Liga season in an arguably weaker side than Sociedad. The Brazilian forward will be hoping to impress his new fans this weekend.
Completing off the Saturday La Liga daily fantasy football tips is
Iago Aspas (Modogoal 8.2m). The striker made his return to Celta Vigo and marked it with a goal, although it arguably should have been an own goal. Celta's match against Rayo Vallecano gives Aspas the perfect chance to take is tally to two.
Sunday
Antoine Griezmann (Mondogoal 9.4m) has a difficult game this weekend against Sevilla. He opened his tally last week with a deflected free kick and will be looking to cause problems to Unai Emery's side this weekend. He's come on leaps and bounds under Simone and is now a guaranteed starter and a consistent goal scorer. He looks to have taken over free kick duty for Atletico, something that could be needed to take the points away from Sevilla.
Nuno caused a bit of unrest amongst daily fantasy football players last weekend when he didn't start Paco Alcacer against Rayo Vallecano. He instead opted for
Alvaro Negredo (Mondogoal: 5.1m.) He also chose to start Negredo against Monaco in the Champions League qualifiers, a decision that was justified when Negredo scored an audacious chip. His performance against the Ligue 1 side looks set to have given him the nod this weekend also; and his price is very cheap, so if he does start it could be a fantastic cheap forward for you.
Adruiz (Mondogoal: 10.6m) is the main man upfront for Athletic Club Bilbao. The striker drew a blank against Barcelona, which after his four goals in two games against them in the Super Cup, seems a bit poor from his standards. He will be hoping to notch his first La Liga goal of the season against Eibar.
Last is
Dayverson (Mondogoal 5.5m). The Brazilian forward made his debut this weekend and won over the fans straight away. His fancy tricks and skills makes him an entertaining watch for the season he doesn't have the best hitory of scoring goals but will be hoping to change that against Las Palmas this weekend. He's a cheaper option for you to consider.
