Daily Fantasy Football Tips For Premier League Gameweek 2

Share post on:
The Premier League will host its first Friday night fixture during Gameweek 2 as Manchester United host Southampton at Old Trafford. The new TV deal means that ten fixtures will be aired on a Friday, giving fantasy football managers one less day of tinkering and selection headaches. Luckily, on Bet4theBest you can choose at what point you wish to enter, allowing you to see the lineups for two teams or a maximum of ten if you wait until 3pm on Saturday. After their combined success last Gameweek, @NaturalFootyFan & @jamieFPL have returned to share their finest daily fantasy tips.

Clean Sheet Odds For Gameweek 2

Team Odds Implied Chance
Man United 1.83 54.64%
Tottenham 1.91 52.36%
Liverpool 2.05 48.75%
Swansea 2.05 48.75%
Chelsea 2.25 44.44%
Man City 2.45 40.82%
Sunderland 2.60 38.46%
Following Man United's commanding second half display versus Bournemouth, they are the bookies favourite to carry their form into Gameweek 2. They host Southampton, which is never an easy fixture, but with Mourinho's strict defensive approach a clean sheet seems likely - especially having failed to do so in their opening match. Antonio Valencia and Luke Shaw were consistently involved in attacking moves against Bournemouth, so are your best options for United coverage in Bet4TheBest. The former looked to whip the ball towards Ibrahimovic at every opportunity and made one key pass, while the latter attempted more dribbles than any of his teammates. Mauricio Pochettino's Tottenham are ranked second for clean sheet potential with a favourable home fixture. Their opposition Crystal Palace are one of only two sides who failed to score in their opening fixture. Alan Pardew has become desperate in his search for a striker saying “I think any striker that becomes available is of interest to us.” Palace have since acquired the services of Christian Benteke, though it's unlikely he'll be available for selection this weekend. With this in mind, along with Tottenham's stellar defensive form last season, you can't go wrong with any of their backline. Toby Alderweireld is perhaps your best bet to also bring back some goalscoring returns. Sunderland make a surprise appearance with a 38.46% implied chance of a clean sheet as they take on Middlesbrough at the Stadium of Light. Although Boro were very impressive on home soil last season, they failed to find the net in eight away matches in the Championship last season. This opens up the opportunity for a big defensive differential, with the majority of competitors on Bet4TheBest steering clear of Sunderland players because of the unlimited budget. There are two defenders worth considering. Lamine Kone is the first with more touches in the opposition's penalty area (7) than any defender during Gameweek 1, while Patrick Van Aanholt is always a threat with six goals and three assists last season.

To Score 2+ Goals In Gameweek 2:

Team Odds Implied Chance
Tottenham 1.53 65.36%
Man United 1.57 63.69%
Liverpool 1.62 61.73%
Man City 1.67 59.88%
Chelsea 1.83 54.64%
West Ham 1.83 54.64%
Swansea 2.00 50.00%
Tottenham are the favourites to score two or more goals this Gameweek as they host Crystal Palace looking for their first win of the season. Spurs opened their campaign with a 1-1 draw to Everton, whilst Crystal Palace were narrowly brushed aside by West Brom. There are strong rumours that Vincent Janssen could start up top to help alleviate Harry Kane from his start of season goalscoring curse. It'll be a bold move selecting him before seeing the lineups, but could prove a shrewd move as it'd be the only way to pair him with the likes of Aguero and Ibrahimovic who play in the fixtures beforehand. Erik Lamela put in a strong performance in Tottenham's opening match and repaid the managers who showed faith in him based on his pre-season form. The attacking midfielder rescued a point for his side with a header on the 59th minute. All eyes are once again on Zlatan Ibrahimovic this weekend after his record against Claude Puel went viral last night. Ibrahimovic scored 11 Ligue 1 goals versus Nice, all while Claude Puel was boss. This tally was more than against any other Ligue 1 club during his spell there and it included two hat-tricks. Anthony Martial (listed as a forward on Bet4theBest) could prove a strong differential for anybody who dares opt for him over Ibrahimovic. Against Bournemouth he turned provider, registering two assists in their 3-1 victory. However, a forward assist on Bet4theBest is worth a measly 1 point so he was only rewarded two for his contribution. If we learned anything from last season it's that Philippe Coutinho lacks consistency within fantasy football and brings explosive returns every five or so weeks. However, with Sadio Mane out injured and Roberto Firmino playing in a forward role, now's the time for Coutinho to lead the midfield. Sergio Aguero is the mainstay in every daily fantasy team for two reasons. The first being that his form is uncontended, for the last five years he's been smashing in the goals and has become the most trustworthy player for the captain's armband. The second being that his ownership will be the highest of all players, therefore if he scores and you don't own him, you'll find yourself at the bottom of the table. Fernando Llorente may seem like shrewd pick based on the fact that he didn't score in Gameweek 1. However, if you look at the statistics you'll notice he had the most shots on target (4) from the opening week. This week he takes on Hull, who are still injury ridden and have the pressure of maintaining their opening day form. Bet4theBest deducts -2 points for every three shots off target so it pays to be selective in your midfielder and forward selections. It's important to note that the following players received a -2 deduction in Gameweek 1:
Player Shots Off Target
Arnautovic 4
Wickham 3
Shaqiri 3
A. Gray 3
De Bruyne 3
Firmino 3
