GW7 Stats – The Top Ten
Premier League GW7 – Starts Friday 30th October 2020
Once the first half dozen fixtures of the Premier League season are completed, it always present a useful measure for how the rest of the campaign will pan out and from this point, the football cream has a tendency to rise to the top.
However, this season has proved to be a rather strange beast and with points being dropped by all parties, nobody is sticking their head above the parapet and saying “we are the team that you will have to hunt down”
Then again, because the results are so wild, it is also putting the world of FPL in a state of flux and this means the potential for points has increased by what can only be considered a ludicrous magnitude.
Which means it is now time to take stock of the highest 10 points scorers (players not managers) of the season so far and it is a table that looks like this:
Once again the “Father and Son” partnership is proving rather fruitful for Tottenham and if you possess both Heung min-Son and Harry Kane in your FPL squad right now, you will be laughing all the way to the bank.
While it was all smiles on Monday night, as the South Korean international headed home to give Tottenham a slender 1-0 win away at Burnley and in doing so, also moved to the top of the FPL points shop.
With Kane turning provider once more, he has had to make do with the number two slot this week and if this partnership can keep flourishing as it currently is, who knows where Tottenham will end up come next May.
These two are pulling clear of Mohamed Salah and for those who had him as captain (writer of this piece included), they will be wincing at just his two-point haul against struggling Sheffield United last Saturday.
However, if you both had Patrick Bamford and Wilfried Zaha in your team (writer of this piece included), their efforts would have undoubtedly softened the blow as they move up to fourth and fifth in the table respectively.
It was a rather cold day for Dominic Calvert-Lewin at St Mary’s, as Everton fell to their first defeat of the season. The hope now, is that the recent England goalscorer just had an off day and has not already been worked out by opposition defences.
While 41 seems to be the magic number, as this is the number of points that the four-way tie for seventh have currently earned. Take a bow misters Ings, Rodriguez, Vardy and Wilson for your continued points consistency,
Somewhat unsurprisingly there are no defenders within the top 10 and you need to go three more places down the list to find the highest scorer in that position. Step forward Wolves’ Roman Seiss with 38 points to his name thus far.
Did You Know?
Liverpool have won 28 of their last 29 home matches (Premier League). Can the monster run continue this weekend at home to West Ham?
There have been under 2.5 goals scored in 13 of Wolves’s last 16 games (Premier League). For what is considered to be a flair team, there does seem to be a lot more grind to Wolves’ performances these days.
Sheff Utd have lost 8 of their last 9 matches (Premier League). Not only that, but they have not won any in that run, as the best they have managed during this unwanted streak is a draw at home to Fulham.
Liverpool have had the most corners per game in the Premier League this season, with 7.67. Interesting, but as always it is a case of what you do with them exactly.
Pierre-Emile Højbjerg (Tottenham) has made the most accurate passes in the Premier League this season, with 477. After a rather indifferent performance in his Tottenham debut against Everton, it is fair to say that the Dane is now settling in to his new surroundings.
