GW25 Stats – The Top Ten
Premier League GW25 – Starts Friday 19th February 2021
While although Manchester City look like they are going to romp to another Premier League title, there is still plenty up for grabs in the fantasy football realm and as we soon approach the final third of the season, the drama and the pressure will only increase from here.
With a double gameweek just concluded, it means the potential for another points bonanza and if you were one of the infamous “100 club” then give yourself a pat on the back, as you may have given your own title hopes a substantial shot in the arm.
Then again, if you failed to maximise your output after those additional fixtures, perhaps now is the time to commiserate and although there is still just enough time to turn things around, you probably cannot afford many more busts between now and the end of the campaign.
Which means, you are going to have to select your personnel wisely and one of the best ways to do that (or arguably the best way) is to get the highest scorers in your team. While that very list, looks as follows:
Even though Manchester United’s title tilt has gone off balance, there is no doubt that Bruno Fernandes continues to show his own personal worth and after scoring an equaliser against West Brom last Sunday, he has solidified his position at the top of the standings.
The Portuguese star now finds himself with a 16-point advantage over Mohamed Salah and even though he scored against Leicester last weekend, it did little to help Liverpool in the overall scheme of things.
While Tottenham certainly need some help and after recording a bust against Manchester City, both Heung-min Son and Harry Kane are non-movers. Their measly two-point hauls at the Etihad, now mean both Fernandes and Salah are racing clear into the distance.
The same two-point collection was afforded to Patrick Bamford last weekend, as the Leeds forward stays in fifth place and that’s only because Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish had little to shout about himself.
However, there was more joy for Grealish’s Villa teammate and that is because Emiliano Martinez kept a clean sheet against Brighton and earned additional saved points for his effort, which means the Argentine is now seventh in the standings.
While there is a new entry to the list in joint eighth, as Manchester City’s Ilkay Gündogan has surged into the top ten and this purple patch of form, sees him share the position with Leicester forward Jamie Vardy.
Rounding out the top 10 is Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin, although with the England forward now a doubt for this weekend’s Merseyside derby, he may struggle to maintain his position by this time next week.
Did You Know?
Manchester City have won their last 12 matches (Premier League). What price does that run become 13 at the weekend and if it does, then surely Pep Guardiola’s men move one step closer to the Premier League title.
Liverpool are undefeated in their last 24 home matches against Everton in all competitions. Will the Reds find themselves in a sticky situation against the Blues this weekend? If there is a loser in this one, then that outfit will take a serious dent to their own top four aspirations.
There have been under 2.5 goals scored in 11 of Newcastle’s last 13 away games (Premier League). While without Callum Wilson for the Magpies, there is every chance Steve Bruce’s men draw another blank. The only question is, whether they ship three or more to Manchester United this weekend?
Brighton are now unbeaten in their last 6 Premier League outings, they cannot relax just yet but Graham Potter’s men have certainly taken a huge step towards safety as of late.
