GW22 Stats – The Top Ten

Premier League GW22 – Starts Tuesday 2nd February 2021

20 games of the frantic 40 have now been contested and as we edge ourselves into the second half of this current Premier League season, we are reaching ever closer to the business end of the campaign.

While although we are not quite there, those most important weeks are still in sight and if you can bulk up on your points tally over this incredibly busy period, it should set you in good stead for the title winning stretch to follow.

Of course, as an FPL manager you will need to stay on top of things and not forget to do your team over the weekend (naming no names) which subsequently meant leaving Harry Kane as your captain (no further comment please).

Still, now is not the time to dwell on a horror show performance, instead we can only look forward and this means a look at the current top 10 highest points scorers within the world of Premier League fantasy football, a list that looks as follows:

It is once again all change at the top of the footballing pyramid, as Egyptian international Mohamed Salah reclaims top spot by the smallest of margins and after netting a brace against West Ham, his return to the goals has seen a return to number one.

The Liverpool star reclaims first place at the expense of an inactive Harry Kane and his inactivity means that he now shares joint third place with teammate Hueng min-Son and leapfrogging them both, is Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes.

It must be said that it was a rather uninspiring gameweek for both Fernandes and Son, as they drew blanks and because of this pair of busts, it is now tantalisingly tight at the very top. To the point, where just three of them separate the top four places.

After a goal and an assist against Leicester, Patrick Bamford has moved into joint fifth place, an accolade he shares with the ever-impressive Jack Grealish and they both move above an inactive Jamie Vardy.

Callum Wilson announced his return to the top 10, as he scored a brace against Everton and in doing so moves back up to eighth place. While his move up the chart comes at the expense of both Wilfried Zaha and Dominic Calvert-Lewin who drop out of the list.

Sadio Mane was given the weekend off, as Liverpool and won 3-1 away at West Ham and even though he did not take to the field, he still manages to stay in the top 10. The Senegalese forward is now joint ninth with Aston Villa ‘keeper Emiliano Martinez.

While when making a case for the defence, the highest scorer is still Aaron Cresswell of West Ham with 96 points and hot on his heels are Andy Robertson of Liverpool with 92 points and Manchester City’s Ruben Dias with 91.

Did You Know?

Manchester City have won their last 8 matches (Premier League). It does seem that with everyone else having their own wobbles, City have seemingly got theirs out of the way and look like being the clear favourites to win the title.

Crystal Palace have failed to score in 10 of their last 14 away matches (Premier League). That does not bode well for their trip to Newcastle in midweek.

Then again – Newcastle have seen under 2.5 goals in their last 8 matches against Crystal Palace in all competitions.

Pedro Neto (Wolverhampton Wanderers) has made the most unsuccessful dribbles in the Premier League this season, with 40. What is more alarming to Wolves, is the fact that they’ve not won any of their last eight league outings.

That’s how you do it Pedro: Conor Gallagher (West Bromwich Albion) has been dribbled past the most times in the Premier League this season, with 45.

West Ham have hit the woodwork the most times in the Premier League this season, with 13. Then again, the Hammers are having a good season up until now and therefore, will not have too many complaints.
