GW15 Stats – The Top Ten
Premier League GW15 – Starts Saturday 26th December 2020
Regardless of what side of Christmas Day you read this article on, a merry Christmas from all at FPLBet towers and if you are reading this piece before the 25th, it means you are giving plenty of thought to your fantasy team.
While if you are reading this on Boxing Day, it means frantic preparations for Week 15 are now beginning in earnest and with a litany of football over the next few days, there is simply no rest for the wicked.
Because this is the time of year, in which title tilts can begin to take shape and if you can crack the festive code, it will set you up very nicely for the second half of the season. Then again, if you get it wrong, it will only spell disaster in the months to follow.
Of course, the best way to crack the code, is to select the highest scoring players in the game and the best way to find those out, is by looking at the current top 10. A list, that is below:
All change please. That is exactly what has happened at the top of the charts, at the Tottenham talismanic duo has been surpassed. The new king in town lives on Merseyside and his name is Mohamed Salah.
With Jurgen Klopp’s decision to put Salah on the bench, FPL managers all around the world would have let out a huge cry of frustration. However, that frustration was certainly eased by the time the Egyptian international had finished his Selhurst Park cameo.
He did not need long to bag a brace in South London and with Tottenham drawing a blank, it means Salah has moved from third to first in the space of a gameweek, leapfrogging both Heung-min Son and Harry Kane.
In fourth place is Bruno Fernandes, who finds himself just one point behind Jamie Vardy and with the Leicester forward slotting home from the penalty spot against Tottenham, he also finds himself as a fully paid-up member of the “100 club”
With Vardy lying in fifth, there’s a nine-point gap between him and Dominic Calvert-Lewin who once again failed to register at the weekend, even if he did apply enough pressure for Arsenal to score in their own net.
While Jack Grealish is reaping the rewards of an impressive showing against West Brom to move up to seventh, leapfrogging Patrick Bamford in the process. While Callum Wilson and Wilfried Zaha round out the top 10.
The highest scoring defender is still Kurt Zouma with 76 points to his name, while the man between the sticks that everyone will be looking to capture is Emiliano Martinez, as the Argentine has accrued 67 FPL points for Aston Villa thus far.
Did You Know?
Liverpool are undefeated in their last 45 home matches (Premier League). Did someone say Big Sam on Sunday? He couldn’t, could he?
Manchester Utd have won their last 10 away matches (Premier League). An incredible record and they will look to make it 11 when they travel to Leicester on Boxing Day,
There have been under 2.5 goals scored in 10 of Man City’s last 11 games (Premier League). A statistic that only highlights the issues regarding firepower at the Etihad.
James Ward-Prowse (Southampton) has made the most accurate crosses from corners in the Premier League this season, with 17. Is he the best set-piece taker in the division at present?
Mohamed Salah is top of the Premier League scoring chart with 13 goals to his name, which is 36% of Liverpool’s league goals.
Harry Kane has scored the same percentage for Tottenham, but it is only nine goals from a total of 25.
Sheffield United have not won any of their first 14 Premier League matches this season, earning just two points from the first 42 on offer.
While Arsenal currently have the second worst streak without a win, one that stands at seven.
