Leeds vs West Ham
Another Premier League weekend is on the horizon and it is another dose of Friday night football, as Leeds play host to West Ham at Elland Road. Marcelo Bielsa’s men were soundly beaten by Chelsea last Saturday and will look for better fortunes at home instead.
They go up against a West Ham outfit who lost 3-1 to Manchester United last Saturday and manager David Moyes will be looking for his players to bounce back after such a defeat.
Prediction: Leeds 2-1 West Ham
Wolves vs Aston Villa
Wolves were soundly beaten by Liverpool last Sunday and without Raul Jimenez in attack, you do wonder if they are now lacking a focal point for all their neat and creative players to work around. While if this is an issue, it is not one that is going to be resolved anytime soon.
Aston Villa will go into this Midlands derby rather fresh, if only because their game was postponed last weekend and manager Dean Smith will be hoping his players can get themselves back on track.
Prediction: Wolves 1-1 Aston Villa
Newcastle vs West Brom
The other team that failed to play last weekend were Newcastle and with Steve Bruce’s squad currently decimated by a swathe of positive coronavirus tests, there are still question marks regarding the staging of this fixture.
While when talking of decimated, West Brom certainly were by Crystal Palace at the weekend and Slaven Bilic may feel that a week off may be a better option than taking to the field once more.
Prediction: Newcastle 0-0 West Brom
Manchester United vs Manchester City
The latest edition of the Manchester derby has snuck up on us and to be honest you could say the same about both teams in the tables. For United, they’ve won four league games in a row and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s head has been removed from the managerial guillotine once more.
While for Manchester City, it seems as if the thrashing of Burnley has woken them up and after also making light work of Fulham at the weekend, they will look to make it three league wins in a row.
Prediction: Manchester United 1-2 Manchester City
Everton vs Chelsea
It seems a case of one step forward and two steps back for Everton and after picking up just four points since the Merseyside derby, it is clear that injuries and suspension are seriously hampering the progress that Carlo Ancelotti was hoping to make.
While that progress may only stutter further at the weekend, as they play host to a Chelsea side who currently possess the second longest unbeaten streak in the division, with no loss in their last nine.
Prediction: Everton 0-2 Chelsea
Southampton vs Sheffield United
After a couple of indifferent results, Southampton returned to winning ways on Monday and by getting the better of Brighton find themselves back in the top six, a position that they will look to solidify by the end of the weekend.
That’s because they play host to a languishing Sheffield United outfit and with still just a solitary point to their name, the struggle is only continuing for Chris Wilder and his players.
Prediction: Southampton 2-0 Sheffield United
Crystal Palace vs Tottenham
Crystal Palace certainly had a good day at West Brom last Sunday, even more so when you see Christian Benteke bag a brace and manager Roy Hodgson will be hoping his players have not used up all their goalscoring tokens before Sunday.
That’s because they play host to a Tottenham side who stay top of the table and after passing three difficult tests, Jose Mourinho will need to make sure his players pass a slightly easier module.
Prediction: Crystal Palace 0-2 Tottenham
Fulham vs Liverpool
The tough run of fixtures began last weekend for Fulham and this weekend with Liverpool making the trip to Craven Cottage, things will only get tougher. With that said, Scott Parker may decide that this one constitutes nothing more than a free hit.
If that is the case, Liverpool could take full advantage this Sunday and with the Merseyside outfit lying second in the table, it seems as if a multitude of injuries has done little to put them off.
Prediction: Fulham 0-3 Liverpool
Arsenal vs Burnley
With Arsenal currently being where they are in the table, this is a game that they simply must win and although there is a slight buffer between them and the teams below them, failure to beat Burnley would be nothing more than rank embarrassment.
Which means the rest of the Premier League’s supporter base may be united in Burnley aiming for all three points and if they do, could that be Mikel Arteta’s last managerial act at the Emirates.
Prediction: Arsenal 1-0 Burnley
Leicester vs Brighton
Leicester left it late to win last Sunday and although there was an element of fortune in their victory over Sheffield United, they were certainly the better team at Bramall Lane.
This Sunday sees them go up against a Brighton side who lost to Southampton last Monday and with VAR causing more consternation, defeat was a bitter pill for manager Graham Potter to swallow.
Prediction: Leicester 2-0 Brighton
