Bet At Home Review and Latest Sign-up Offer

Review TL;DR
Our team is currently appraising Bet-At-Home. Stay tuned for a detailed review.

Age / Trust

The history of Bet-at-Home dates back to December 1999, when the firm was set up by Jochen Dickinger and Franz Omer. Today, the firm employs more than 300 people and has its headquarters in Dusseldorf, Germany.

With more than five million customers, Bet-at-Home is considered a trusted betting brand across Europe. The firm is part of leading French firm BetClic Everest Group.

About / Intro

Bet-at-Home took just three months to launch as an online sportsbook after it was set up by Dickinger and Omer shortly before the turn of the millennium.

Growth for the company has been steady over the course of the past 20 years, with the firm now present in 22 nations around the world, with a primary focus on central Europe.

At the latest count, Bet-at-Home claims to take an average of 27,000 daily bets with markets offered by the bookmaker on more than 80 sports.

As well as sports betting, which remains the main focus for the firm, Bet-at-Home offers an online casino with more than 100 games to choose from for users.

The Bet-at-Home sportsbook recorded a profit of €60.5 million in the firm’s latest filed accounts.

Licensing & Safety

Bet-at-Home continues to expand across the continent, having won licenses in the United Kingdom and Italy during the last few years.

Bet-at-Home has a sports betting licence in Ireland too, while the firm is considered to be one of the safest and well-run betting companies in the world.

Bet-at-Home is certified by eCOGRA, which means all of its games are fair to play, while the site provides contact details for GamCare and Gamblers Anonymous to its users as well.

Sign-up Procedure

Those who are yet to join Bet-at-Home can do so through a simple sign-up procedure, which should take no longer than a few minutes of your time.

It is even possible to speed up the process even more by using your Google or PayPal login details to sign up, should you be willing to link your betting account to either of those sites.

As part of the security systems in place on the Bet-at-Home site, users will be asked to set up a security question such as their favourite film or their first pet.

You can also, during the sign-up process, choose which currency you want to use when playing on the site, with euros and pound sterling likely to be two of the most popular options.

Deposit Options

Solid deposit methods are on offer for those who decide to join Bet-at-Home to play on either the sportsbook or the casino site.

Debit cards are still probably the most popular way to add funds to an account and all the major options here are included by Bet-at-Home.

Ewallets such as Skrill and Neteller can also be used with no processing fees in place. Deposits should be instant in the vast majority of cases when using a debit card or an ewallet.

While some bookmakers have begun allowing people to use cryptocurrencies to add funds to a betting account, this option is not yet in place for Bet-at-Home users.

Withdrawal Speed / Options

Bet-at-Home reserves the right to pay out all funds in euros only, which may be frustrating for those customers who live in a country that does not use this currency, such as the UK.

When withdrawing using bank transfers, three transactions a month will be completed free of charge, after which the bookmaker will take a fee of up to five euros per transaction.

The minimum withdrawal that can be made from a Bet-at-Home account is 10 euros, through an ewallet system such as Skrill, which is the fastest way to get your hands back on your money.

A Bet-at-Home customer who wants to make a withdrawal from their account may be asked to provide a copy of an official photographic identity document, for example a passport, driving licence, identity card, to verify their identity. It may also be necessary to provide proof of the means of payment used to make a deposit, with full details in the firm’s terms and conditions.

New Customer Bonus

At the time of writing, Bet-at-Home does not have any offers running for new customers.

This is a real setback for the bookmaker as virtually all other competitors within the field have something like a free bets deal in place in order to encourage people to sign up for an account.

Existing Customer Bonus

The situation regarding poor quality promotions with Bet-at-Home is much the same for existing customers, who currently only have a single offer on the table.

Users betting on Premier League football matches have a money back offer. If the game ends in a draw, their stake will be returned. This offer is fine, but it is a surprise the bookmaker has not put together more promotions in a bid to make the site a lot more appealing to potential users.

Quality of Odds

Bet-at-Home can at least guarantee some of the best odds in the business. Whatever the sport, the Bet-at-Home prices are typically found to be right up there with the most generous on offer.

However, odds comparison sites often do not feature Bet-at-Home prices, so it can be difficult to check whether or not a particular bet offered by the company is good value or not.

A check of the odds on offer at Bet-at-Home for upcoming Premier League football games found that the site is towards the top of the list when it comes to the best value prices available.

Bet In-Play Options

Live betting is a key part of the offering on the table at Bet-at-Home, which puts in-play wagering on its main menu in a prominent position.

A lot of markets are on offer when checking Bet-at-Home prices during a live game, with sports such as ice hockey among those that are popular to bet on live, as well as football of course.

Unfortunately, at the time of writing there is no live stream functionality available at Bet-at-Home, which leaves the company lagging behind many of the biggest betting brands in Europe.

Cash Out Feature

Cash out is available at Bet-at-Home unless linked funds, bonus funds or voucher funds were used to place the bet, in which case the feature will not be on offer to users.

System or multi-way bets are also not available for cashing out at Bet-at-Home, which is a shame as a lot of other companies in this day and age offer this as standard already.

Users who do not want to be able to cash out their best on the site have the option to deactivate the feature at any time by going into their account settings.

Cash Out amounts offered by Bet-at-Home are calculated based on the current odds and the firm factors in a processing fee that cannot be negotiated as part of the process.

Sportsbook Betting Products

The Bet-at-Home sportsbook is solid and has everything most users will want from it, while the site also has a casino offer with various games that are up for grabs as well.

Diversity of Sports – Markets

Bet-at-Home claims that more than 80 sports are available to bet on with its sportsbook, which is impressive as most people probably would not even be able to name 80 different sports!

Football is clearly a big primary focus for the company and a typical big game in the Premier League will have in excess of 100 different bets to pick from. This might sound like a lot, but on some sites, the number of markets for big games runs to more than 250 now.

As well as football, Bet-at-Home is strong on sports such as tennis, basketball, handball and volleyball, which are some of the most popular sports in the countries where Bet-at-Home is one of the more popular bookmakers.

Users seeking something a bit more different can check out Bet-at-Home prices on sports like alpine skiing, badminton, floorball, chess and even sailing.

It is even possible to bet on the outcome of a variety of esports tournaments, so Bet-at-Home is working hard to make sure its sportsbook stays relevant in these changing times

Non-Sports Betting Products

Some non-sports betting products are offered by Bet-at-Home but the range is not quite as deep or as wide as those offered on some of the biggest betting brands in the world.

There is a casino site on Bet-at-Home where users can play dozens of slot games. Sports-themed games such as Scudamore’s Super Stakes, which is based on horse racing, are on offer and may be among the most appealing choices on the table.

A small selection of card games like blackjack can also be found and there is a live casino option where roulette and blackjack can be played with a live dealer.

Strangely, the live casino is not treated as a separate entity as is the case on a lot of the other top casino sites. Instead, users seeking a live game of blackjack or roulette will have to find it on one of the casino’s sub-menus, which seems like an odd design decision by the site.

Casino / Bingo Offers

As previously mentioned, promotions are a really weak area for Bet-at-Home and an obvious place where the site could be improved.

As such, it will not be a surprise for users to learn that no casino offers are currently in place on the site. Most other bookmakers offer perks such as free spins, but these are nowhere to be seen, while there does not appear to be a sign-up offer for the casino side of the site either.

If Bet-at-Home is to break through and become one of the top bookmaker and casino sites on the internet, it is clear promotions are one of the areas where there is an awful lot of work to do.

Do they do Specials?

There is a section of the sportsbook where special bets are on show, but the links appear to be broken. With the lack of promotions on show at both the Bet-at-Home sportsbook and casino, users should not expect too much in the way of special bets.

Enhanced Odds?

Enhanced odds do not seem to be in play on the Bet-at-Home either, although there is a chance that these are only offered by the company for certain situations.

It is clear that those who demand special bets, regular promotions and enhanced odds from their chosen bookmaker are likely to be looking in the wrong place with Bet-at-Home.

Mobile App Experience

Luckily, the Bet-at-Home mobile website does not have any major issues as the firm does not appear to have a mobile app of its own.

While major betting brands have long had their own apps to make it easier to bet while on the move, Bet-at-Home seems to have decided that this is not necessary.

There are traces of the existence of Bet-at-Home apps online but they do not appear to be available any more and it is not clear why they have apparently been pulled by the firm.

It is true that the Bet-at-Home mobile site works in the same way as a mobile app, but users may find it unusual that they cannot add a Bet-at-Home app on to their tablets or smartphones.

It is possible that a new Bet-at-Home mobile app could be launched by the firm in the future, so account holders should keep an eye open for any announcements being made by the company. However, it does not appear that a new Bet-at-Home mobile app is going to be at all imminent.

Customer Service Reputation

Customer service is an area where Bet-at-Home can get one over on some of its rivals. Whereas some betting sites hide away their customer service, it is front and centre on Bet-at-Home and this is the way it should be.

On the left-hand side of the Bet-at-Home site is the customer service button, which takes users to a contact form. It is also possible to email questions directly to [email protected] or [email protected], while the phone numbers for the Bet-at-Home sportsbook and casino are +356-20102511 and +356-20102578 respectively.

There is an FAQ on the site that might be useful for people having issues with their account and it is also possible to speak to a Bet-at-Home customer service agent through a live chat facility. Support is available in both English and German, which is a plus point as many firms have customer service in only one language.

Countries Accepted / Restrictions

Bet-at-Home appears happy to concentrate on a few key markets rather than trying to be a dominant presence all over the world in the betting industry. Germany and Austria are two of the most popular places for Bet-at-Home, which is no surprise as this is where the company has a long history, and it has allowed licenses in nations such as Italy and Portugal to expire.

Spain, Denmark, France and Belgium are among the European countries where it is not possible to use Bet-at-Home at the time of writing, while the firm has no presence in the United States either. Sweden, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria and the Czech Republic are among the other countries where Bet-at-Home does not have a license and the firm warns against trying to use a VPN in order to gain access to the site as well.

It is possible that Bet-at-Home will look to expand in the coming months and years but, at present, it appears the firm is concentrating on growing its presence in some key areas.

Bet-at-Home is frustrating to use as a bookmaker as it does a lot of things right, but there are some major drawbacks that make it hard to recommend the site. Here are some of the leading pros and cons surrounding this particularly betting brand.

  • An excellent mobile site does everything the majority of normal users will need
  • Multi-lingual customer service, with phone support included, is a big plus point
  • A solid range of markets and depth, especially when it comes to European football
  • Odds are very decent on the whole despite not being on comparison websites

  • Only being able to make withdrawals in euros may be frustrating for some users
  • No live stream functionality is a shame and poor compared to many rival companies
  • Lack of a specific mobile app appears to be a rather large oversight by the firm
  • Charging for withdrawals is quite extreme compared to a lot of other leading sites
  • Promotions and bonuses are virtually non-existent on the Bet-at-Home platform

Editors Verdict

Anyone who is looking for quite a basic sportsbook with good value odds and a strong list of markets will find Bet-at-Home to be a decent option. But the lack of a sign-up promotion and few regular offers and bonuses make it hard to produce a case for this bookmaker over its rivals.

Charging for withdrawals is also difficult to swallow and users in countries that do not use the euro are unlikely to be happy about only being able to take out cash in this option on the site. Not being able to watch live streams of sports through a Bet-at-Home account is another reason to pick another bookmaker rather than signing up with Bet-at-Home.

Positives include one of the best mobile sites in the business – though there is no mobile app available to Bet-at-Home users right now – while the casino is a fun diversion as well. The live casino, despite being slightly hidden away in a sub-menu, has some good options too.

Bet-at-Home’s style and design are also starting to look a bit dated and could do with being refreshed, though it is likely this is not going to be a priority for a lot of sports fans.

Some users have also found it is difficult to verify their account as Bet-at-Home seems to be quite fussy about the documents that can be used to do so. In some cases, it has been difficult for account holders to get their hands on their winnings as a result of this verification process, which likely could be improved by the people behind Bet-at-Home.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can a user close their Bet-at-Home account?

Account closures at Bet-at-Home must be done via email as there is no option to do this through the website. Buried in the terms and conditions on the Bet-at-Home site it is mentioned that inactive accounts that have not been logged into for 12 months may be charged a fee of five euros per month or the equivalent amount that is held in the currency of the betting account. Bet-at-Home also warns an administrative fee will be imposed on the betting account.
